Prečo si vždy uvedomíme jedinečnosť človeka až vtedy, keď navždy odíde? Možno je to nejaká zvláštna ľudská črta alebo možno, aspoň v tomto prípade, to tak bolo preto, lebo to dotyčný sám chcel. Miesto plaču nad rozliatym mliekom by sme si skôr mali pripomenúť osobu, ktorá sa aj napriek tomu, že to sama odmietala, stala jednou z najvplyvnejších literárnych osobností 20. storočia: Jerome David Salinger. Tento americký spisovateľ vyrastal na Manhattane a s písaním krátkych príbeho! v začal už na strednej škole. Salingerov otec – Poľský žid – obchodoval s kóšer syrom. Keď J. D. v roku 1936 predčasne ukončil štúdium na New Yorkskej univerzite, otec na neho naliehal, aby sa naučil niečo o mäsovom importe a obchode. Tak sa Salinger dostal do Viedne. Pobudol tam však len chvíľu. Kvôli blížiacej sa vojne musel po mesiaci Rakúsko opustiť. Čo sa týka jeho literárnych ambícií, časopis New Yorker odmietol sedem Salingerových poviedok, aby v ňom napokon jednu predsa len vydali, avšak tesne pred začatím druhej svetovej vojny. Skutočný úspech prišiel v roku 1951, kedy bolo vydané jeho najznámejšie dielo Kto chytá v žite. Protagonistom a rozprávačom bol len 17-ročný Holden Caulfield, ktorý rozprával a myslel! ako deti v jeho veku. A to bol práve ten kľú&#! 269; k & #250;spechu. K úspechu, ktorému sa Salinger celý život bránil. V snahe skryť sa pred zrakmi ľudí a prílišnému záujmu verejnosti, stal sa samotárom a nové práce vydával zriedkavo. Napriek tomu svetlo sveta uzreli ďalšie jeho práce ako napríklad Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey a ďalšie práce publikované v New Yorkeri. Neskôr v 80. a tiež 90. rokoch prišla ďalšia vlna pozornosti spojená s memoárami, ktoré vydali dve ženy jeho života – bývalá milenka a dcéra. Naposledy bolo jeho meno spomenuté v roku 2009, kedy ďalší autor použil jednu zo Salingerových postáv z románu Kto chytá v žite. J. D. Salinger zomrel vo veku 91 rokov 27. januára 2010, vo svojom dome v New Hampshire. Necítil žiadnu bolesť.

Why do we always realize that someone special was living here on this planet when that person is already gone? Maybe it is some kind of human feature but maybe, at least in this case, it was something what the other side wanted. Instead of crying over spilt milk we could, no we SHOULD bring back one of the most influential literary personalities of the 20th century: Jerome David Salinger. This American author was raised in Manhattan and with writing short stories started at secondary school. Salinger’s father – Polish Jew – was selling kosher cheese. When J. D. was dropped out of New York University in 1936 his father urged him to learn about the meat-impo! rting business and sent him to one company in Vienna, Austria. Because of forthcoming war, he left Austria one month later. The New Yorker rejected seven Salinger’s stories to finally publish one shortly before the World War II. The real success (he actually didn’t want) came in 1951 when he released his novel The Catcher in the Rye. The protagonist and narrator of this novel was disaffected 17-year-old Holden Caulfield who talked just like the kids in his age do. That was a key to success. But to success Salinger didn’t want. In quest of hiding he became reclusive and he was publishing new work less frequently. Short story collection - Nine Stories, collection of novella and a short story - Franny and Zooey and some other works published in The New Yorker followed. Later in 1980s and 1990s he had to face unwanted attention connected with memoirs written by his ex-lover and his daughter. The last wave of attention came in 2009 when another writer used one ! of Salinger’s characters from The Catcher in the Rey. J.! D. Sali nger died at the age of 91 on January 27, 2010 at his home in New Hampshire. He was not in any pain before or at the time of his death.

Il y a une dicton : seule la personne qui se change peut être fidèle à soi-même. Il y a beaucoup de vérité dans ceci, mais il y a également un proverbe qui est peut-être plus connu et c'est : les actions apportent des conséquences. Cependant, quelle soit la vie sans ceci ? Comment goûterait-elle une fois entièrement déterminée ? Je crois qu'il y a un bon nombre d'entre nous, désespérément recherchant un changement, parfois un désastre. Pour recommencer, pour développer la puissance de remporter la victoire. Néanmoins c'est le cas de l'ancien joueur de football de Manchester et le ! Français Eric Cantona Manchester. Il a décidé de commuter sa carrière en 180 degrés. Des stades d'herbe vers le théâtre. Et pas le dernier théâtre. Selon les nouvelles il allait jouer le rôle qui dure d'une heure et demie à l'estrade parisienne chez le Théâtre Marigny dans le jeu contemporain « Face au Paradis ». Il va dépeindre un homme, en train de mourir et d'une moitié enterrés sous la construction effondrée. Le jeu est dirigé par son épouse Rachida Brakni et de nos jours il a une perspective et un goût spéciaux de désastre haïtien. Aucuns doutes que ce sera le plus grand défi pour un joueur excentrique de football mais il est prêt à faire face à ùn échec. Il n'a jamais eu n'importe quelle formation d'acteurs et les critiques parisiens le savent. Personnellement, je ne veux pas juger, il y a une possibilité que c! e sera un fiasco, le rôle est l'un des rôles les plu! s diffic iles au monde, mais il ne serait pas le premier à commencer une telle carrière sans éducation appropriée. Même plusieurs des acteurs de Hollywood faisaient une autre profession avant. Et être un joueur de football c'est avoir une grande quantité d'exécutions confrontant l'audience. Ainsi attendons pour voir.

Si vous appartenez parmi les fervents de l'histoire et votre intérêt est concentré en particulier sur l'Egypte et les pyramides, alors lisez ces quelques lignes. Je parirai qu'ils qu'elles ne vous étonneront pas seulement mais elle vous amuseront également. La croyance populairement tenue que les pyramides ont été construites par des esclaves peut n'est pas exacte. La découverte de nouveaux tombeaux à Giza soutient l'opinion que les constructeurs étaient des ouvriers libres ! L'archéologue en chef Zahi Hawass de l'Egypte se rappelle comment tout a commencé. Il était le 14 avril 1990 quand un cheval a tréb! uché sur une construction de brique, qui était précédemment invisible. Les excavations ont découvert que c'était une partie d'un tombeau pour une famille et des ouvriers. Comme ces tombeaux étaient trop près de la pyramide, les questions se sont posées. Comme dit M. Hawass : « Ces tombeaux ont été construits près de la pyramide du roi, ce qui indique que ces personnes n'étaient en aucun cas des esclaves. » Une autre preuve de l'existence de ces ouvriers libres et payés a une forme de graffiti sur les murs des tombeaux qui indique que ces personnes étaient des « amies de Khufu ». Le fait qu'ils ont été également nourris par les fermiers (ils leur envoyaient 21 têtes de bétail et de 23 moutons par jour) se dirige également sur la possibilité que les pyramides ont été construites par les constructeurs libres ! Selon les experts travaillant! à ces excavations, les tombeaux d'ouvriers viennent de l! a 4è ;me dynastie ce qui signifie qu'ils ont environ 4.150 ans. Par leur description en tant que les constructions en forme de cône des briques de boue couvertes en plâtre blanc on considère qu'ils ont été construites pour imiter des pyramides des rois. La ressemblance de tombeaux à la pyramide et le fait qu'ils se trouvent près d'elle, peut être interprétée comme honneur donné aux travailleurs pour les mois de travail dur.

La 20th Century Fox a annoncé mardi que le film "Avatar" de James Cameron venait de devenir le plus gros succès au box-office de tous les temps. Avatar a déjà récolté 1,859 milliards de dollars et dépassé le précédent record établi par le fameux film "Titanic" de Cameron. James Cameron a connu la gloire grâce à Titanic qui a reçu 11 oscars. Cette fois, Cameron offre une épopée de science-fiction utilisant les meilleures technologies numériques et présentation 3D. La production de ce film a coûté 200$ de plus que ce que Cameron avait dépensé pour Titanic. Pour mieux comprendre tout cela, il faut considérer le fait que le prix des billets a augmenté de 2$ en 12 ans. De plus, les places pour Avatar en IMA ou 3D sont encore plus chères. Greg Brilliant, porte-parole pour les studios détenus par News Corp, a déclaré qu'en comparaison à! ; Titanic qui avait rapporté 1,843 milliards de dollars dans les années 1997-1998 le spectaculaire "Avatar" de science-fiction représentait 1,859 milliards après les ventes de lundi. Lorsqu'Avatar a atteint la barre du milliard de dollars beaucoup se sont demandé si le film avait les ingrédients nécessaires pour battre Titanic et devenir le plus gros succès au box-office de tous les temps. Aujourd'hui, non seulement Avatar a dépassé Titanic mais il semble qu'il va aussi établir un nouveau record. D'après Torrentfreak, Avatar est le film le plus piraté aujourd'hui. The economic crisis has affected seriously the means of transport. Airlines around the world have faced difficulties and some couldn’t handle the pressure, the losses and filed for bankruptcy such being the case of Japan Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Northwest Airlines, etc. As the gas price has spiked up, travelling by car or buss is more and more expensive which could make people turn to a cheaper and in the same time comfortable and safer mean of transport: by train. David Azéma, Head of Strategy and Finance at French state railway company, SNCF stated in an interview for France24 that the revenues for 2009 have s! tagnated both for the cargo and for the passenger transport. Although there is targeted to double the profits by 2012, Azema believes that at the most the revenues will be increased with 50% by then. There is need for a new management, a new market strategy, for a renewal of the railway transport that will lead to the doubling of profits. Structural weaknesses are characteristic to the railways as they cannot match the fees charged by road transport and the fix costs generate losses. Azema consider that the rail freight is not only a company problem, but also a green policy antinomy, thus SNCF is working with the public authorities to find a solution. Another matter that hangs above the SNCF fate is that of liberalization throughout European Union for passenger transport. The competition will be greater and the previous monopoly might be lost, but the difference in the high-speed transport will be made in the end by the! quality of service, the marketing strategy. SNCF is not only ! a safe c ompany, ready to face competition, but it is able to plan an expansion to Marocco, US and to develop projects.

Tsonga Got over Djokovic by Milota Sidorova

French tennis player Jo Wilfried Tsonga beat Serbian no. 1 player Novak Djokovic. Tsonga who is 10th seed worldwide won over 3rd seed Djokovic in quarter-final in Australian Open. The both players met in duel at the same occasion, however it was Djokovic leaving the court as the winner.Tsonga took his revenge back and will meet with the current best player Roger Federer in semi-final.The match was rather dramatic because it took five sets. Except of Nicolas Almagro, Tsonga had never played such long duel before. The results came with 7-6 (10/8), 6-7 (5/7), 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. The French tennis player will meet Swiss Federer on Friday. The world no. 1 won the match against Russi! an sixth seed Nikolay Davidenko. The duel was straight from the beginning with 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 and 7-5 for Federer.The Friday meeting is quite promising. Federer has been getting the no. 1 position for 237 consecutive weeks and is the first, yet the only man regaining the position after loosing it. On French-Serbian duel Tsonga said he was in good shape, maybe a little better than Djokovic.Djokovic asked for a medical call-out. He claimed the stomach problems and lost the third and the last sets. He withdrew the match against American Andy Roddick last year due heat and cramping. It was quarter-final as well. Before meeting Djokovic, Tsonga won against Sergiy Stakhovsky, then American Taylor Dent. The third victory came from the meeting with Germany's Tommy Haas. The next man was Nicolas Almagro who set him the tour to Djokovic. Now, despite knowing the tough play, he is open to face the best man.

When I was a kid I desperately fell in love with Edward Scissorhands. That magical atmosphere and brilliant music just got me. Few years later I was watching with serious expression on my face but with uncontrolled bursts of laugher his other film called Mars attacks! Even the movie’s ratings are lower, I don’t care. The movie carried lot of Burton-ish elements and that just gives it incredible artistic value. Later then the Big Fish came and I have to admit, it was a really, really big fish to me! And I bet that for many other Burton’s fans as well. Other movies, such as Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or the musical Sweeney Todd: The Demo! n Barber of Fleet Street, were excellent pieces as well. His movies reflects in many aspects his own life. Growing up in American suburbia just with two friends – movies and paintings created from a shy boy one of the most talented American film directors and producers in the world. This status allows him to fulfill his own dreams not only in the movies but also in other spheres. Tim Burton is going to head this year’s Cannes film festival jury. This year’s festival will run from May 12 to 23 and as Burton said it is like a dream come true. For festival president Gilles Jacob is Tim Burton “magician” and he hopes his “sweet madness and gothic humor” will manifest on the festival’s atmosphere. There is no doubt that Burton takes this opportunity serious. After all, his words clearly prove it: “After spending my early life watching triple features and 48-hour horror movie marathons, I am finally ready for this. When you th! ink of Cannes you think of world cinema. And as films have alw! ays been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true.”

Avatar has already earned 1.859 billion dollars and surpassed the previous record set by Cameron's famous film “Titanic.” James Cameron earned fame thanks to Titanic which received 11 Academy Awards. This time Cameron offers a science-fiction epic story which uses the best digital technology and 3D presentation. The production of the film cost $200 more than Cameron spent on Titanic. To understand it right we need to considerate the fact that ticket prices are now about $2 higher than 12 years ago. Furthermore, Avatar tickets for IMA and 3D screenings are even more expensive. Greg Brilliant, spokesman for the News Corp-owned studio said that comparing to Titanic which earned $1.843 billion in years 1997-1998, sfi-fi spectacular “Avatar” stands at $1.859 billion after Monday's sales. When Avatar hit the 1 billion dollar mileston! e, many asked whether it has what it takes to beat Titanic and get on the all-time biggest earners list. Haiti unites people everywhere by Claudia Sonea

Humanity reveals itself in face of adversity. When tragedy strikes people are united and stop from their daily activities to give a hand of help, proving that there is still hope to a better world, to a world without pettiness and greed, without hate or selfishness. A massive earthquake struck Haiti killing over 150000 people and displacing many others by causing major damage to all settlements. Countries all over the world stepped up and dispatched funds, food, trained personnel- from medical teams to engineers. The more fortunate people of this world, the rich and famous, would not sit back either and they either donated mo! ney, either started projects to raise funds meant to support the recovery of Haiti. Among the most famous projects is that of George Clooney and Simon Cowell who is planning to launch a charity record involving celebrities like Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Will.I.Am, and so on and so forth. George Clooney’s project is copying the model of the telethon fundraiser held after September 11, 2001. Around 130 celebrities got together on Friday at the telethon “Hope for Haiti Now” to show the survivors of the earthquake that they are not alone. Maybe celebrities like Madonna, Bono, Beyonce, Jay-Z haven’t lived a similar experience, they would not be in the same position like the victims of Haiti, they can offer support and understanding, just like everybody else. Leonardo DiCaprio, Brangelina couple and Clooney were the most generous donors giving 1 million dollars to organizations like Clinton Bush Haiti Fund or MSF’ s operation! s. Facebook and MySpace also offered ! support by promoting the event and the Entertainment Industry waived all administrative fees. The all-star event was a success and there was launched an album which hit the first place in iTunes charts. With more than $58 million dollars raised, the two-hour telethon hosted by Clooney and Wyclef Jean can be considered a success.

Story of El Bulli, the famous, probably the most famous restaurant among haute-cuisine fans remains of a scene from Orson Welles's Citizen Kane. Young Kane was asked to close down his newspapers Inquirer that he ran in rather unusual way. He couldn't make it profitable although it was the most innovative magazine in the country. On the question whether he was going to shut it down, Kane replied. Let's see, Inquirer cost me $1 million loss a year. Since I have $42 million, you know what? It will take 42 years to shut it down...It is a different story when the creator becomes a master and stop focus on pure business. Spanish chef Ferran Adria has achieved probably everything ! he could in the field of top cuisine. According his own words, his meals are bit of science projects, since he experiments with the meals on the molecular level. This rather eccentric businesses is open from June till December and it's been booked on the whole season. The restaurant lead the list of the world's top cuisines according to the magazine Restaurant. It won in 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. But Adria said he needed the break. El Bulli will remain closed between 2012-2013. The reason he claimed was more than 15 hours of work every day. He didn't want to change it into a meal serving factory. Strange to find these days, but interesting in a way.We will finish with the movie Chocolate. Even now I can imagine the pleasure of chocolate making brilliantly performed by Julie Binochet. Popularly held belief that pyramids were built by slaves may not be right. Discovery of new tombs in Giza support the view that builders were free workers! Egypt’s chief archeologist Zahi Hawass remembers how it all started. It was on April 14, 1990 when a horse stumbled on a brick structure, which was previously unseen. The excavations discovered it was a part of a tomb for a family and workers. As these tombs were too close to the pyramid, the questions arose. According to the experts working on these excavations, workers’ tombs are from the 4th Dynasty what mean they are about 4,150-year-old. Saturday early in the morning Alicia Keys opened the Hope For Haiti telethon by her song Prelude to a Kiss. Then a parade of famous actors and musicians came in to appeal for donations for the earthquake victims. The program was broadcast live from New York, London, Los Angeles and Haiti. Viewers could watch it on MTV, YouTube or any main American network. These channels proved that they can really co-operate when there is an emergency need to raise funds. This event was aiming for the largest television audience ever. Famous celebrities such as Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Chris Martin of Coldplay accompanying Beyoncé on the piano supported the event with their performances. Hollywood stars sitting at banks were answering telephone calls from people who donated. Hundreds of millions U.S. dollars were collected. These money will be divided among the five relief organisations, which actively operate in Haiti: Oxfam America, Partners in Health, ! the Red Cross, Unicef and Yéle Haiti,foundation of Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean who also organised the event. The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, set up by the previous American presidents, will receive some of the collected money as well. Money raised thanks to international charity concerts represent now the main part of aid funds for Haiti. British spokeswoman for Oxfam said that she was amazed how many celebrities came to support the event. Aid For Haiti will be supported also by the new single from rapper Jay-Z, Sranded in co-operation with Bono Vox and Edge from U2. The song was first performed on the MTV telethon and singer Rihanna also featured in.

I could say I was growing up on this song, even though it was written a lot sooner, exactly in 1968. Maybe only few of you know, but this song was originally written for Brigitte Bardot. She pleaded with Gainsbourg not to release it, as she was married at the time. Gainsbourg complied and later met and fell in love with Jane Birkin and re-recorded the song with he! r. This version became a hit known in the whole world although it was denounced by the Vatican and banned on the BBC. Gainsbourg’s personality and his life were full of controversy. Jewish boy affected by the occupation of France by Nazi Germany grew out of childish foolishness and became a man with reputation as a rake and lothario. He was married three times and had as it was already mentioned a short but ardent love affair with Brigitte Bardot. His controversial sense of humor and provocation accompanied him through his whole life.
