An entertainment for children has become a 1 million business success. One of the most popular European comics is The Adventures of Tintin and the main character a young Belgian reporter thrilled millions of children all over the world. But who could have imagined that one day a memorabilia of the Belgian cartoon series will worth 1 million euros? Collectors are very meticulous persons and they would spend even their last cent just to add another item to their precious collections. Tintin, the comic strip of the Belgian artist Georges Rémi, has become a fixation for many people and thus many Tintin collecto! rs started to appear looking for items related to the reporter and his white dog. The hunt targets a large area of items, from cars to supporting characters, coins, stamps, and others and the value seems to have increased in time. This week in Paris an auction presented 230 items from about 70 collectors and took by surprise the Hergé Foundation that tries to keep under control the license through Moulinsart. The items existence was unknown up to now to the foundation that carries on Herge’s legacy. The auction total sales were slightly above one million euros and impressed everybody as two years ago 600 items were sold and barely reached 1.2 million euros. Collectors are not the only ones that bring popularity to the comic series. There is a chain of stores selling goods related to Tintin and even coffee shops. We may grow up and become adults worrying for tomorrow, but inside we will always be small ch! ildren enjoying our toys.
