Rowling writing detective novel Notme

She was spotted in cafes from Edinburg, working on the manuscript.Ian Rankin, the creator of Detective Inspector John Rebus, at the Edinburgh book festival told to the press that his wife saw Rowling "scribbling away in a cafe recently"."My wife spotted her writing her Edinburgh criminal detective novel. It is great that she has not abandoned writing or Edinburgh cafes," Rankin said.In interviews, J.K Rowling said she has plans for new books, but she believes she is unlikely to repeat the success of the Potter series."I'll do exactly what I did with Harry ╉ I'll write what I really want to write," Rowling said.On her website, she gave hints to fans saying she wants to write something "completely different". "I can take my time. Superbad still tops the box office chart Corina Ciubotaru

Summer figures look really good for Hollywood. 606 million movie tickets will have been sold by the end of the season, topping the $4 billion mark in sales. "Superbad", a movie about three geeky teenagers with no major stars in the cast, has done very well, scoring $18 million this weekend out of a $68.6 million total and staying at the top of the ticket sales list for two straight weekends. This is the second best-selling movie from Sony, after "Spiderman 3" brought over $336.5 million so far. The top five movies this weekend are "Superbad", "The Bourne Ultimatum" from Universal which made $12.4 million, followed by "Rush Hour 3" with $123 million. "Mr. Bean's Holiday", also by Universal, debuted on fourth place, raising $10.1 million in its first U.S. weekend, after having scored $188.9 million overseas. Lions Gate's "War" came in fifth in the countdown. The top 12 movies cashed in $90.2 million last weekend and these numbers show an increase in profits even though fewer, yet more expensive tickets were sold compared to the same periods in other years. The highest attendance was in 2002, when box offices sold 653.4 million tickets. The movies this summer were a combination of sequels, comedies and drama which kept people coming to the cinema, as both attendance and sales rose from the same time last year. Figures are expected to fall though, in the coming months, as the summer season is coming to an end on Labor Day (September 3rd) and school starts.

Sony's Superbad helped the movie industry break another record Corina Ciubotaru

For the second weekend in a row, Sony's movie Superbad is topping the sales chart in America. The industry has topped the $4 billion mark for the summer and it was the best year ever when it comes to total sales, though ticket numbers haven't been very high. By the end of the season, sales are expected to reach $4.15 million, with 606 million tickets sold. Superbad is a movie about three dorky high-school kids trying to score drinks for a party, all in the name of impressing a few pretty girls. The teen movie has no big stars in the cast, but it managed to do very good, despite all expectations, cashing in $18 million last weekend alone. On second place, The Bourne Ultimatum is the third part of Jason Bourne's story and describes his attempt to get back at the people who made him into the perfect killer that he is. Rush Hour 3, the movie ranking at number 3 on the highest sales list, is also a sequel starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as the cop duo trying to solve crimes involving Asian organized crime. Mr. Bean's Holiday, starring British actor Rowan Atkinson as the unmistakable goofy character, debuted last weekend at number four after a huge success overseas. Action thriller War completes the Top Five list for this weekend, with total sales of $10 million. The summer season will end on Labor Day September 3rd, after which vacations end and kids start going to school instead of movie theaters.

Apple, NBC at odds on pricing Notme

The "marriage" between Apple and NBC Universal is at its end. NBC decided not to renew the contract selling their TV shows with Apple's iTunes. On Friday Apple announced that they will no longer sell programs for NBC Universal through iTunes, because NBC decided to raise the price for downloading to more than a double of its actual price. Apple refused to set the price for downloading at $4.99, their current price is $1.99."We are disappointed to see NBC leave iTunes because we would not agree to their dramatic price increase," Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes, said in a statement.According to a New York Times report, NBC Universal notified Apple of its decision late on Thursday, but they are trying to reduce the piracy preventing pirated material from being uploaded to Apple's popular iPod, as the discussions will continue until December when the contract ends.NBC Universal declared that they accounted about 40 percent of iTunes downloads, but Apple said that NBC accounted for 30 percent of sales of iTunes TV shows.A Forrester analyst James McQuivey said: "NBC doesn't feel like iTunes is critical to its future business. And Apple doesn't feel like NBC is critical to their business going forward -- I think they're wrong."

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: Luciano Pavarotti died at age 71
by Corina Ciubotaru

Luciano Pavarotti died today. Aged 71, the great tenor was suffering from pancreas cancer for years and had undergone an operation in New York in July 2006. He had been in a hospital a short while ago for an alleged pneumonia which was never confirmed by the artist's staff. He had previously canceled his farewell tour and was planning to resume it at the time of the surgery, but he never got to make that happen. He hadn't appeared in public since last year and was in his home in Modena at the time of death. Pavarotti will also be buried in his home city of Modena, as he was a great representative of Italian culture all over the world. Everyone knew who he is and everyone loved his strong, clear voice that delighted opera lovers time and time again, in roles like Alfredo, Nemorino, the Duke, Otello or Manrico. The tenor was the son of a baker who was also an amateur singer. The father and son both sang in the church choir and went on to win an international contest; this was the starting point of Luciano Pavarotti's singing career. His extraordinary voice became noticed fast and he made his solo debut in 1961, at the age of 26, as Rodolfo in La Boheme. In 1972 he completed a series of nine high C's in La Fille du Regiment and rose to instant stardom. He did charity work in the series of Pavarotti & Friends concerts and had traditional concerts with fellow tenors Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo, as "The three tenors". He was the father of three daughters. May he rest in Peace!

Daddy Abraham
by Livia Necasova

Abraham " Abe " Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents of the United States. Very popular, loved , respected , adored. He was a republican, led the northern countries in the civil war and abolished slavery. He is one of the faces on Mount Rushmore, cities are named after him, air forces, libraries, squares, streets, buildings. His picture is on the 5 dollar note and the 1 cent coin - he is everywhere cause he apparently deserves that..He was a great man and the american people are more then proud of him. There was a guy, his name was Chris and he just thought one day that such a great personality as Abe deserves to have soundtrack of his life. The Cd presents some accoustic ballads - mostly some civil war era songs. So if you`re a Britney / Justin - Fan its nothing for you. For who is it meant to be then?I think there actually are still people who may listen to pop music and Bilboard Charts and simultaneously be a huge fan of Lincoln, so they read and buy everything what includes Lincoln. This is a very brave statement by whoever have said it. That is again about putting people in the tiny little boxes. You there in the red one, the other one in the blue one. What does " Especially for the educational audience " mean? Am I too undereducated to listen to some Lincoln war songs?? Of course, I`m a Britney fan, I wouldn`t understand them.Although I listen to Justin Timberlake and I`m interested in history I still won`t buy that song collection. I`d rather wait for my own soundtrack.

Stars competing
by Claudia Sonea

The sun rises again upon Hollywood, after three months in complete darkness created by writers' strike. On November 5, 10,500 members of the Writers Guild of America walked off the job leaving shows and soaps without episodes and generating fears that the celebration of the movies industry itself might be canceled or transformed into a news conference like the Golden Globe Awards. Oscar producer Gil Cates expressed his enormous joy regarding the end of the strike and the continuation of the preparation for the traditional ceremony for a global TV audience and shinning starts, glamour and fashion, winners and losers like always. The jury is formed of some 5,800 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who will reflect the viewers' choices and tastes. This Sunday on the red carpet outside the Kodak Theatre where a retinue of stars pretending to the world's top film awards will be parading. The expectations are high regarding some races, but mostly the categories already have favorites. It has been a real tradition for Academy Award voters to break all expectations and how would say it Tom O'Neil, veteran Oscar watcher with awards Web site, TheEnvelope.com, they vote with their heart reminding everyone that they have one. At the best film category among the nominees are crime drama "No Country for Old Men" (earned top honors from the guilds of producers, directors, actors and writers, four key indicators of Academy Award success), legal thriller "Michael Clayton" (benefits the popularity of its star Clooney), oil drama "There Will Be Blood" and teen pregnancy comedy "Juno", the only nominated film to surpass the pivotal $100 million mark at U.S. box offices. The tide is high between Briton Daniel Day-Lewis playing a hard-charging oil man in "Blood" and George Clooney in the race for best actor, while at the category for best actress Julie Christie playing an Alzheimer's sufferer in "Away From Her" fights with Marion Cotillard as singer Edith Piaf in "La Vie En Rose" or Ellen Page as the defiantly pregnant teen in "Juno". Joel and Ethan Coen seem to be a sure bet in the race for best director with "No Country". Along the three-hour live telecast our entertainment will be assured by Oscar host Jon Stewart who benefits a fresh new crew of writers who are contents of the break they had and the new contract. Take the traditional coke and popcorn, sit back and enjoy!

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: J.K. Rowling worried about illegal translations of her books
by Ana Maria Ciobanu

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was published in English in July selling millions of copies in a matter of hours and became the fastest-selling book on record.Translations immediately started to appear on the Internet because it can take months for authorized translations to be published. In France a 16 year old teenager was arrested after posting on the Internet he's own translated version of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".The official French translation is due out on October 26, according to Gallimard. The school boy lives in southern France, in the Aix-en-Provence area and was taken into custody by a police anti-counterfeiting unit and released later.Rowling and Gallimard Jeunesse filed an official complaint but then on Thursday Marie Leroy-Lena, spokeswoman for Gallimard stated that they were worried about organized groups of translators, not individuals: "This complaint in no way concerns isolated translations published on the Internet ... by disinterested fans not fully aware of the illegal nature of their action."More than 335 million copies of the seven Harry Potter novels have been sold worldwide.I wonder if the 16 year old translator will ever read Harry Potter again...But there's always a full side of the glass, just imagine how cool he will be among his friends after this adventure. He'll be the Harry Potter of his group!

Pavarotti hospitalized
by Claudia Sonea

Considered the greatest tenor of his generation, Pavarotti at the age of 71 is having serious health problems. His medical history shows that he had in 2005 a neck surgery to repair two vertebrae, while a bout of laryngitis made him cancel his appearance at the concert Three Tenors held in Mexico. Moreover, when he had his back surgery, he contracted an infection and he also had in 2006 a surgery for pancreatic cancer. Currently he is hospitalized and the reason is yet unknown. Gabriele Sorrentino, the spokesman for the Modena University Policlinic in northern Italy told reporters that the opera star entered the facility on Wednesday and that he is kept under observation, but there is no reason to worry. Despite the fact that the treatment was not made public, according to a local newspaper, Pavarotti was diagnosed with pneumonia during his holiday at the Adriatic seaside. Both hospital and star spokesmen did not confirmed the rumor, but told that he had fever. Pavarotti's manager Terri Robson announced in June that the singer was preparing a new album that will include a collection of classical religious music and it will be released next year if nothing happens. Since his debut in Italy in 1961 he has come a long way and he is the world's widely recognized opera singer, by some the best of his generation. Let's hope he will get better and will continue to charm us with his beautiful voice. All the best and God be with him.

Rap sensation Lil' Maaz went from serving kebab to instant fame
by Corina Ciubotaru

A new rap sensation is about to emerge on the scene! And his name is Lil' Maaz. This Turkish sensation currently lives in Paris and works in a restaurant, where he had the idea of composing a song for his customers about...you guessed it...Kebab! It all started as a laugh, as the rapper would immediately start singing once customers made their order. One day he was overheard by some people working at a recording studio, which made a video with him and a couple of friends in the restaurant and posted it on the Internet. YouTube worked its magic and over 400,000 people viewed the rising star over the past month, in a video named after the song, "Mange du kebab". More recently, the EMI record label signed him up and has released the single in stores this week. The song is very funny, as both the singer and the record label intended it to be and illustrates perfectly the kind of influence the Internet is beginning to have on people's everyday lives. Not only is it a source of information, it has also become the place for people to express themselves and become popular with others. Blogs and other instruments of Web 2.0 bring us together and let us know each other in new and exciting ways. For the 27-year old Yilmaz Karaman, success came from the most unexpected place, and it's only up to him to rise to infinite glory or dedicate his life to serving fresh kebab to customers.

Merv Griffin passed away at age 82
by Ana Maria Ciobanu

Merv Griffin passed away at 82 years old after losing a hard fight to prostate cancer, according to a statement from his family released by Marcia Newberger, spokeswoman for The Griffin Group/Merv Griffin Entertainment.Merv Griffin began his career as a $100-a-week radio singer in San Francisco. He created the "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" game shows we all loved and watched and some of us even played. He was the featured vocalist in Freddy Martin's band. He had a brief film career and a successful TV career as host of "The Merv Griffin Show," which aired for more than 20 years. His financial success came from investing and producing "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune."His creations became quickly the hottest games on TV. Merv Griffin sold the rights for them to the Columbia Pictures Television Unit for $250 million, keeping a share of the profits. He was too much of an artist and creative person so after playing around with the sale money and spreading it in treasury bonds, stocks and other investments he got bored. His TV show inspired hundreds of others and hosted great personalities. Whitney Houston made her début at the Merv Griffin Show; Olivia Newton John launched her first record; everyone who was someone appeared in Merv Griffin's TV show. We will all miss this wonderful person who made TV history and introduced us to another gender of entertainment. Merv Griffin will definitely not be forgotten. May he rest in peace!

Not so sure about the aftershow
by Ana Maria Ciobanu

Prince fans are disappointed that their favorite artist sometimes never shows up at the Indigo venue following his concerts at London's O2 arena.Prince's website announces that when there are arena concerts on consecutive days, the band usually chooses to rest instead of appearing at Indigo.A spokeswoman for the Purple One tried to explain everyone it was never guaranteed that Prince's band would play every night at Indigo. She said the website clearly stated Prince's band would play most nights, and on any given night they could show up.Many fans booked tickets especially because these after shows were heavily advertised.Ticketmaster promoted the after shows as "the white hot place to hang for those still in need of some serious grooves".Tickets were priced at £75 and £25, whereas the main arena show was £31.21 per seat. If you'd be a dedicated Prince fan you'd immediately figure out why the price was set at £31.21. If you're not a big Prince fan you need an explanation: it is a reference to Prince's recent album 3121.Ticketmaster made sure they can't be accused of misinforming and they stated: "Please be aware that Prince and the band are not guaranteed to perform, but as we all know with these cats - expect the unexpected."However fans think this wasn't clear enough and that warning messages were not prominently displayed when they booked tickets. Some of them contacted Ticketmaster to get refunds but we all know this isn't going to happen.

Disney renaming
by Claudia Sonea

In 1989 in Florida, USA, Walt Disney World Resort opened its third theme park called Disney- MGM Studios, inspired from the heyday of Hollywood in the 1930s and '40s. The resort had two contracts with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; one to use MGM name and lion logo in marketing and another one to use specific MGM content in The Great Movie Ride. Because of the construction of MGM Grand Hotel and Theme Park in Las Vegas, in 1992 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer filed a law suit against Disney that filed a countersuit at its turn. The reason was the right over the MGM name. Disney won the battle, but it was contractually prohibited to use the name Disney- MGM Studios in certain marketing contexts where it will be called The Disney Studios. It took them long time, but it is not surprising that they finally decided that from January 2008 the originally name of the park will be changed in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Furthermore the contract with MGM will expire at the end of 2007, so it was a must to rename it. Meg Crofton, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, said that the new name represents the change of the park too; it will no longer represent the golden age of movies, but greatness of Hollywood regarding the entertainment. No matter the reasons and the name, the park is a great place where imaginary can run loose and looks like a real motion picture studio, a mass of streets and buildings that blend into each other. Wouldn't we all want to take a tour?

John Lennon's solo music is available for download on iTunes
by Corina Ciubotaru

iTunes, Apple Inc.'s leading music store, is about to gain yet another victory in the quest to bring music to the iPod people. It has recently signed a deal with the guardians of John Lennon's work and is about to make his solo work available for download; it has been on sale on other sites for quite some time but without much success. Apple is getting closer to publishing The Beatles' catalog, after having signed a similar deal with Paul McCartney in May. Ringo Starr's solo music will begin selling later this month, but George Harrison's work is yet to be made available in online stores. As a bonus, 4 albums and the collections "Anthology" and "Working class hero" will include videos for a limited duration of 30 days. The John Lennon songs will also be ready for download in iTunes plus mode, featuring higher quality and no DRM, as part of EMI's catalog. The songs became available for download after a settlement in the trial between Apple Inc. and Apple Corps, The Beatles' company. There has been a long history of lawsuits between the two because of the name; Apple Corps gave Apple Inc the right to use its name in 1991 as long as they kept away from the music business but when iTunes and iPod appeared onto the scene, the battle was on again. Their latest agreement in February says that Apple Inc has all the rights to the name, but must license some use of it to Apple Corps. The agreement was amicable and this is hardly a surprise, as Steve Jobs is one of the most famous Beatles fans.

Academy Awards
by Claudia Sonea

I hope you all watched the glamorous Academy Awards on Sunday. In spite of all the reddish you could see among the stars there was a standout appearance of Marion Cotillard, who conquered not only all the attention on the red carpet by being different, but also for her portrayal of legendary chanteuse Edith Piaf in "La Vie en Rose" the Oscar for best actress. Like a real star she spread rays of light throughout the evening with her body-hugging, mermaid-style dress (Jean Paul Gaultier gown, full-length white and gold) boundless energy and a farewell song backstage (gave a short rendition of the famous Piaf number "Padam Padam," prompting loud applause from reporters). After receiving the Oscar and going backstage she told the press that her heart went boom. Boom and it had all the reasons being the first French performer since 1960 (Simone Signoret won the best actress Oscar for her leading role in "Room at the Top") to win an Oscar in the best actress category. Cotillard raised her profile in Hollywood overnight after the victory, earned from her first Oscar nomination and succeeded to conquer audiences and critics at home and abroad with her physical transformation in the film that traces the life of Piaf, who achieved international fame after being raised by her grandmother in a brothel but saw her life cut short by drug and alcohol abuse. She also took home the French film industry's coveted Cesar award for best actress for "La Mome," (as the Piaf biopic is called in her homeland) a British BAFTA and a Golden Globe for her role. The actresses nominated at the category the best actress category, were Cotillard, Julie Christie ("Away From Her"), newcomer Ellen Page ("Juno"), Laura Linney ("The Savages") and Cate Blanchett ("Elizabeth: The Golden Age"). But there were plenty of other surprises, have you seen them?

Hollywood big stars left out of the Oscars
by Zuzana Zelenakova

The Oscar ceremony is second most watched event annually, the first one being the Super Bowl. However, the 80th Academy Awards had only 32 million viewers. Why the word only? Well, in 1998 with "Titanic" winning the best film award about 55 million people tuned in. This year's Oscars were a bit special though. Majority of winners were outside of the United States and so big stars of Hollywood fell flat this time. But Joel and Ethan Coen who are from Minnesota we must exclude from this. As expected their drama "No country for old men" based on Cormac McCarthy's praised novel won the best picture category, and the best director, adapted screenplay and the best supporting actor in addition. The latter prize went to Spanish actor Javier Bardem in the role of a creepy assasin. He was the first Spanish who won Oscar in 80-year Academy Awards history. An Irish actor Daniel Day Lewis won the best actor category for another one of his negative characters in "There will be blood". Best actress went to French performer Marion Cotillard for brilliant portrayal of famous chanteuse Edith Piaf in "La vie en rose". British actress living in Scotland Tilda Swinton got the best supporting actress prize for the role in "Michael Clayton". "Hollywood is built on Europeans," she said."Go back and look. I'm just really said I couldn't give my speech in Gaelic. Don't tell everybody. We're everywhere." Recently unknown Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard took the best original song Oscar for their duet "Falling slowly" from low-budget movie "Once". Box office hit "Ratatouille" became the best animated film. Austrian "The Counterfeiters" from Second World War period was the best foreign language film.

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: War of the Worlds
by Livia Necasova

Talking about the movie studios is such a thing. I think ordinary people don't pay attention to them at all. Do you pay attention on the beginning or in the end of the film like which studio produced the movie? Is that important to you? Do you choose a movie because of a studio? Like, wow, this is a Dreamworks movie, let's see it. I don't think so. The only studio you may pay attention to is Disney-cause obviously everyone knows Disney's animated fairytales, so everytime you see Disney somewhere, you know what to expect. Oh, I just realized that Disney doesn't tingle in the ears anymore. Now it's Pixar who brings a lot of money to the pocket. But it's one and the same pocket since Disney bought Pixar, two years ago.I'm sure many people would be able to order the studio to its logo.Like the hungry lion, thats MGM. The golden city with the lights going on and the music, thats 20th Century Fox. The fishing boy sitting on the moon, thats Dreamworks. The "Big Five". Paramount Pictures, MGM, Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. These are the five biggest and oldest studios in Hollywood.Making movies is a risky business. It is a long way from screenplay to the silver screen. It costs huge money so if the movie is a big flop, very bad. The people won't come to the cinema to see it which means they won't earn the money back that they did invest. If they produce a couple of movies like that it can lead to crash. So it came along that Viacom bought Paramount Pictures , MGM is a part of Sony Pictures Entertainment , News Corp. owns 20th Century Fox, Universal is a branch of NBC. The next is New Line cinema, becoming a part of Warner Bros. To buy and to be bought. That's the answer.

Scary Spice pressures Eddie Murphy

We've seen the talented actor Eddie Murphy in several movies acting like a man of the family, a devoted and very funny father. A recent scandal is trying to put him in a rather different light.Father of five children from his former marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy and recently engaged to film producer Tracey Edmonds, is being accused by Melanie Brown, the ex "Scary Spice" that he isn't accepting his parental responsibilities. What looked like a passionate love story is now ready to turn in to a law suite.Mel B's problem is that Eddie Murphy hasn't declared he plans to visit the baby.Like any mother she wants to be able to tell her daughter- Angel Iris Murphy Brown (born on April 4th), that she was a wanted child, that her father loves her and that the actor cuddles her and takes her out on road trips. This is understandable, what seems to me unacceptable is making this public. This is the culture we're living in; this is how we're taught things are done these days- by creating a big scandal, especially if you're a public person.I doubt Eddie Murphy wouldn't pay the alimony or wouldn't take care of both of them. He wouldn't want bad publicity and first of all we don't know him personally. You can't trust nor what tabloids are writing, nor what former Spice girl states. She's just trying to pull down the old pressure on Eddie and get more money. It's an easy equation which could have been solved very easily without flooding the Internet and the tabloids.Eddie Murphy stated that this matter is private and plans to have no further comment proving Scary Spice you need class to last in this business.

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: Web drama

Many of you remember still the entire fuss made over online TV. Bill Gates even lost his temper in the excitement of the new invention and BBC's iPlayer announced a new era. Well under these circumstances it was obvious that there will be changes in the entertainment area too. It will not come as a shock the fact that the Web drama "LonelyGirl15" had a tremendous success and had created sensation. Even major media outlets started to get interest in the project after the fact that Bree, the main character, was not a real 16-year-old posting video blogs on YouTube, but a real actress called Jessica Lee Rose. The plot is about a girl with particular blood properties, chased by an evil organization, "The Order", in order to transfuse her blood into one of the cult's elders- in fact that is how first season ends. Fortunately for the show lovers, there will be a second season introduced by Bree's email that warns girls with the same blood properties about the organization. Miles Beckett, one of the show's three writer-producers, stated that it was a mutual decision to kill the main character, Jessica Lee Rose is developing a new Web comedy and will sign for a new TV project titled "E-lebrity" and the show needs something new. The last episode will be posted over a 12-hour period exclusively on MySpaceTV and the "LonelyGirl15" Web site. Don't waste anymore time in trying to search for it online, just click. Enjoy!

J. K. Rowling finished book of fairy tales
by Nina Gotzmannova

The author and pen mother of wizard Harry Potter said her last goodbye to the world full of magic and mystery. Her new book of fairy tales is her first book after finishing the Harry Potter series and although it is not about Harry's world, the book has something in common with him. "The Tales of Beedle the Bard", as is the title, was previously mentioned in the last Harry Potter book.In the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" the headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore gave one of the characters, Hermione Granger, book with the same name as the new Rowling book has. But for the readers and the fans would be difficult to get to this book as it exist only in Harry Potter's world. The book is unfortunately hand written and made only in seven copies. Six of them are gifts to Rowling friends and only one will go for sale.It will be sold via auction at Sotheby's on December 13 and the starting price is $ 62,000. Not only this book is the only copy for the public, but it's also a luxury piece for the library. The book is bound in morocco leather, mounted with silver and semiprecious stones. The price may be therefore even higher.Except this highly unreachable book for average Joe or Jane is J. K. Rowling working on another book. According to her words it is a book for children and it's half written. Her next plans for the future are to publish an encyclopedia of the wizarding world.

An "Elvis is Alive" Devotee in Search for a Disciple
by Barbora Kasparova

It is in people's nature to question, speculate and eventually come up with theories. Mr. Bill Beeny, an 81 year-old resident of Warren County, Missouri, also has a theory of his own. He, in fact, dedicated his free time and energy to it for the past 15 years. He claims, what we have heard many times before, that Elvis Presley is still alive and has "reliable" evidence to support his believes. Not the first one to do that, you object... Certainly not. However, definitely one of the few that went as far as to open his own museum named The Elvis is Alive Museum (should you be seriously interested - http://www.theelvisisalivemuseum.com). Some call it hobby, others call it obsession. No matter what we tag it, the fact is, that Mr. Beeny is about to retire from his function of keeping Elvis alive, and he does not intend to let his message be forgotten. He's put all his material concerning Elvis's life and death for sale on eBay.So if you are in urgent need of a conspiracy theory to nourish, and have an extra of $ 4, 467. 69 to spend (the starting price was $450, and as for Nov 02nd 33 bids were placed so far), this is perfect time for you.

Dark age is coming for TV-addicts
by Martina Fischerova

Bad news appeared last days for TV addicts either Hollywood producers.Members of the Writer Guilt of America voted unanimity for calling the strike last week. The cause is simple &money. The talks between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have continued since july without any noticeable progress. The source of the problem is that the writers demanding more money from the sale of DVDs and a share of revenue generated by the sale of TV shows and films over the Internet. Writers say the strike will last untill studios offer a more lucrative deal. The producers said it couldn't be reached. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers announced that writers unreasonable proposals would result in astronomical increases in producers costs." But WGA is not all alone in their opinion - The Screen Actors Guild faces the same royalty issues as writers, and its president, Alan Rosenberg, expressed support for them last week. The worst what could happen is the immediate affect on TV program followed by loosing viewers and cause financial troubles to producers.First talkshows which are dependent on current events will dissapear from our TV screens since one or two weeks. Daytime soap operas would run out of episodes within a month, primetime sitcoms and dramas would last for 6 to 12 weeks. So far famous series as Lost, Desperate houswives and others would stop in next january or february because development of new series for next season would be cut short. The major networks would be forced to fill their schedules with repeats, newsmagazines and reality-TV series, all of which are unaffected by the strike. We can just hope that these two sides will find common speech soon and the viewers won' t get bored to death without their belowed shows and series watching repeats all the time.

Coalition aims to expose Shakespeare
by Notme dfsfs

A group of artists and scholars are debating that Shakespeare wasn't really Shakespeare. They formed a coalition named the Shakespeare Authorship Coalition and they don't believe that the Bard wrote all the plays and sonnets that made him famous around the world. The group has about 300 members, with members like two of Britain's most distinguished Shakespearean actors, Sir Derek Jacobi and Mark Rylance, the original artistic director of the new Globe Theatre. They launched a formal 'Declaration of Reasonable Doubt' about the identity of the Bard of Stratford-upon-Avon signed by 300 people and to provoke an academic debate."I don't think anybody could do it on their own," said Jacobi, in reference to Shakespeare's 37 plays and 154 sonnets. The coalition says that the real author of the writings may be various writers such as Christopher Marlowe, Francis Bacon or the Earl of Oxford, Edward de Vere. They say that Shakespeare was born in 1500 in an illiterate lower-class household, pleading that it would be very hard to acquire detailed knowledge of language, the upper classes, an expertise in mathematics, history and law, and obscure references to places outside of England."An author writes about his own experiences, his own life and personalities," Jacobi said.Twenty famous doubters from the past are on the coalition's list, including famous actors or writers such as Mark Twain, Orson Welles, Sir John Gielgud and Charlie Chaplin.

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: 60-year old O.J. Simpson is charged with robbery
by Corina Ciubotaru

O.J. Simpson is in trouble again. This time, he has been accused of six felonies: two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and coercion. Apparently, he and some accomplices broke into a hotel room in Las Vegas and stole some O.J. memorabilia from a former agent called Alfred Beardsley, who subsequently dropped the charges against the former NFL star. Apparently, nobody got hurt during the crime, even though firearms that were used have been recovered by the police. Simpson claims that the goods were originally stolen from him and that there were no guns used during the event; he had found the victims through an auction house owner who informed him of their presence in the hotel. If he is found guilty, the 60-year old football star faces up to 35 years in jail for each of the "robbery with use of a deadly weapon" counts. He wasn't convicted during his most famous trial in 1997, when he was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, but he now owes the Goldman family $38 million as a result of the civil trial that followed. The Goldmans have also been given the rights to publish a book written by O.J. Simpson called "If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer", which went to number one on Amazon this Sunday. They are currently touring the country with this book, claiming it to be a confession.

Chris Cantell Discusses Entertainment: The Brave One is a hit !
by Claudia Sonea

The box office offered some surprises. "The Brave One" managed to earn $14 million at the box office, only to become later the top film of the weekend. It's a 2007 criminal drama movie starring Jodie Foster; it was released on September 14, 2007 in the United States. Neil Jordan, the director got the success formula with a vigilante movie, although the box office take was not that much, but it's normal for this time of the year when the transition between the summer blockbuster season and the fall Oscar rush takes place. The Warner Bros tale about a woman that loses her fiancÈe due to the beatings applied by three punks and after she kills a guy in the supermarket because he just murdered his wife and threatened her, she becomes a vigilante. Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers said that was the change that the R-rated film needed to attract both men and women, because usually movies about revenge are for men, but Jodie Foster succeeded to enlarge the public. Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros said that it had a great success despite the cash earning, because during summer it is all reduced to weekend success. 3:10 to Yuma was the last weekend box-office winner with 9, 2 million dollars. Next week movies Good Luck Chuck and Resident Evil should not pose too much risk for this weekend winner. The David Cronenberg crime thriller Eastern Promises, the Julie Taymor film Across the Universe and the Iraq war film In the Valley of Elah represent the Oscar buzz, even though their earnings were not extraordinary. Dergarabedian assures that their names will definitely be heard on the red carpet. According to Media By Numbers LLC gave a top ten of the movies record at the box-office: The Brave One- $14 million; 3:10 to Yuma- $9.2 million; Mr. Woodcock- $9.1 million; Dragon Wars- $5.4 million; Superbad- $5.2 million; Halloween- $5 million; The Bourne Ultimatum- $4.2 million; Balls of Fury- $3.3 million; Rush Hour 3- $3.3 million; Mr. Bean's Holiday- $2.7 million. Buy tickets good fellows and take the ones you love to spend some quality time. The movie's forecast is looking perfect.

Here he comes, the modern Cavemen
by Nina Gotzmannova

They had not disappeared in gap of time, cavemen are still among us. Most recently they came from GEICO advertisements and made their debut on TV. The new sitcom of ABC called 'Cavemen' made a debut in a pilot episode, but next Tuesday will the show air once again with small changes. In the well-known commercial is underestimated the intelligence of modern living cavemen. Eleven parts were showing cavemen facing misunderstanding, offends and prejudice. The sitcom will be based on similar characteristic, telling a story about three cavemen friends living in San Diego and battling with problems of modern life and, of course, prejudice against cavemen. The previous plans were that cavemen will live in Atlanta, but production faced some problems with picturing Atlanta in the movie. They changed the setting to San Diego instead. ABC also declared the original episode didn't introduce three prehistoric friends properly and that is the main reason it has to be redone. In the sitcom will play Bill English, Nick Kroll and Sam Huntington, more known as Mimi-Siku in 1997 Disney's movie Jungle 2 Jungle. None of the actors played in the GEICO TV spot, but Jeff Daniel Phillips, one of the original cavemen, will play a recurring character. Anyway the word cavemen and the description of cavemen is a prejudice itself. It is only a fiction how early people may live. Cavemen are often pictured as hairy aggressive men, dressed in animal skin and fur and really unintelligent. They were also believed to knock out their females and drag them by hair into the cave. Hopefully the ABC cavemen will behave gentler.
