Mysterious French street artist JR wins TED Prize

A mysterious French artist “JR” became a winner of TED Prize of 100,000 dollars and possibility to help in changing the world for the better. “JR” is famous for using desolated and empty streets in cities all around the world as frames for his photos. TED is a nonprofit foundation, its mission is cultivating ideas and innovation through prestigious conferences. TED described “JR” as a true humanitarian, his art inspires people to look at the world differently and to help to make it better. The artist, only know as “JR”, is characteristic for putting his art to the places where people would not expect it. His amazing creations ! inspire people to create art even when they do not know they can. TED Prize director Amy Novogratz appreciates that “JR” ability to put a human face on some of the most critical social issues while redefining how we view, make and display art. The artist does not want to reveal his full face, name or at least the meaning of his big seized images. His big black and white photos can be found on buildings in slums around Paris, on walls in the Middle East, on damaged bridges in Africa and on poor homes in Brazil. In Israel, he placed a photo of a rabbi, an imam, and a priest on walls. His display “Women Are heroes” in Kenyan town turned the town into a “gallery of local faces.” Novogratz said that the works of “JR” had move all of the members of the TED Prize. She believes his talent together with the resources of their community would help to change the world.
