Tintin makes troubles 80 years later by Zivka Deleva

Eighty years after the publishing of the comic book "Tintin in the Congo" in Belgium, a Congolese man is trying to convince the Belgian judges to ban the book, because it was offensive toward the African people. What an apsurd! Come on people, get a little bit honest and release yourself from the tights. The cartoon has been part of the childhood of a lot of children in the whole world, and we live in the 21.century, who is the one to judge what should be published, where is then the freedom of speech and expression? The same man has tried to ban the book in France, as well, but simply didn't make it. The court in Belgium is going to say the last word next week. "Tintin's ! little (black) helper is seen as stupid and without qualities. It makes people think that blacks have not evolved," - said Bienvenu Mbutu who lives in Belgium. It is not like this is the first time for the comics to be critisized. In the time it was published, there were a lot of reaction about the racist and colonialist views. Even the author himself admitted that at that time he wanted to depict the naive colonialist views of the time. Other possibility than ban of the book might be a note in which it would state that the book might be offensive for some readers. The Commission for Racial Equality od United Kingdom three years ago took that measure, because the book "contained imagery and words of hideous racial prejudice".

Not one of us is more than a human. As human beings we are making mistakes. That rules twice more for celebrity people who has become voluntary or involuntary victims of mystifications. We can see their improved faces looking down from the magazine covers, buried under mountains of half-truths, half-lies, literally everything that is currently “in”. To being covered with stars in every corner, it means to be challenged with their virtual image. They may be beautiful, smart, rich, whatever, but they make mistakes. And above all they have the right to be left in privacy, especially in these moments. News reported that 45 years old Sandra Bullock was divorcing Jess! e James after five years of marriage. The couple reported that the reason was James's infidelity. Ok, that happens, but who cares? It is another human story. To be with a relationship, it doesn't mean to have a partner, not to feel emotions or to feel satisfied, it means long-term work. The work above all. People are different and love certainly can't fix everything. It is important, but when it comes to marriage it comes to trust, tolerance and compromises. Not everyone can hold this. But it also means that one failure kills the love. One can never guess what happens tomorrow. As for Bullock that became a pet of American cinema public and showed great amount of humor getting the best and the worst actress award the very same year. But privately, she was going to adopt 3 and half month years old Louis as a single parent. She was going to be a mother. No doubt she would be very happy doing this. Anyway, she said it herself – little boy was the number one. Everything! else would be non of our business.

Nikto z nás nie je viac než človek. So všetkým, čo človekom byť znamená. S jeho výškami, ale aj pádmi. Chybami. Na to by sme nikdy nemali zabúdať. Sme ľudia a vôbec nezáleží na pozícii, ktorú v spoločenskom rebríčku zastávame. To isté platí o tzv. celebritách, ktoré sa často krát stávajú dobrovoľne nedobrovoľnými obeťami mystifikácii. Áno, zaplavujú mediálny priestor, ich obrázky nás obklopujú z každého časopisu – ale sami nie sú vo! či médiam imúnni. Od vyretušovanej fotografie až po polopravdivé, poloklamlivé články, ktoré podliehajú kurzu “momentálne in”.V poriadku, môžu byť krásni, chytrí, inteligentí, bohatí, ale nie sú viac než neomylní ľudia.Keď si uvedomím túto skutočnosť, cítim, že sa zbavujem toho parazitického mediálneho vplyvu, ktorý na mňa akoby prestával účinkovať. Dnes sa v správach objavila azda bulvárna správa, že americká herečka Sandra Bullocková sa po piatich rokoch manželstva rozvádza s Jessem Jamesom. Ako dôvod, dvojica uviedla neveru z Jamesovej strany. Nuž, čo dodať?Asi nič. Toto sa stáva a títo mnaželia nie su prví ani poslední. Prečo by som sa mala vyžívať v zisť! ;ovaní najintímnejších pikošiek, tejt! o op 8;ť momentálne in správy? Každý, kto zažil dlhodobý vzťah isto potvrdí, že nejde ani o vzťah, partnera, vlastné uspokojenie, ale o prácu. A prácu, predovšetkým. Ľudia sú tak rozliční, majú rôzne predstavy o živote, rozličné morálne hodnoty.Vyrovnaná dvojica sa nájde málokedy. Niekedy sa nenájde vôbec. Potom prichádza ku kompromisom a tolerancii. Láska nie je všemocná. Jej fyzická a psychická stránka sa mení na vytrvalosť, pochopenie a toleranciu. Tie zachraňujú v čase krízy. Alebo rozhodnú o konci. Koniec však nie je riešenie, keďže všetky podnety vychádzajú z človeka samého. Láska sa ale nedá definovať. Aspoň nie uspokojivo.Jedno je isté. V láske sa môžu meniť pri! ority. Možno preto Bullocková pokračuje v procese adopcie tri a pol ročného chlapčeka Louisa. 45 ročná herečka dlho túžila byť matkou. Zdá sa, že teraz všetku svoju lásku zamerala na bábätko. Ostatné ide bokom. Pre nás všetkých.

Osumdeset godini po objavuvanjeto na strip-knigata "Tenten vo Kongo: vo Belgija, čovek so poteklo od Kongo se obiduva da gi ubedi belgiskite sudii da ja zabranat knigata, zatoa što taa bila navredliva kon afrikanskiot narod. Kakov apsurd! Ma, ajde lugje, da bideme malku iskreni i da se oslobodime samite sebe si od sekakvi stegi. Stripot bil del od detstvoto na mnogu generacii vo cel svet i živeeme vo 21.vek. Koj bi bil najsoodveten čovek što bi trebalo da sudi što treba da se pečati, kade e togaš slobodata na govorot i na izrazuvanjeto? Istiot čovek se obidel da napravi zabrana i vo Francija isto taka, no ednostavno ne uspea. Su! dot vo Belgija kje go kaže posledniot zbor narednata nedela. "Maliot (crn) pomošnik na Tenten e glupav i bez nikakvi kvaliteti. Toa bi gi nateralo lugjeto da mislat deka crnite lugje ne evoluirale voopšto", reče Bienvenu Mbutu, koj živee vo Belgija. Ova ne e prv pat za ovoj strip da bide kritikuvan. Vo vremeto koga bil objaven, imalo mnogu reakcii deka e rasisitčki i kolonijalistički. Duri i avtorot lično priznal deka vo toa vreme toj sakal da gi opiše naivnite kolonijalistički pogledi na toa vreme. Druga možnost, osven da bide zabraneta, bi možela da bide zabeleška vo koja bi stoelo deka knigata bi možela da bide navredliva za nekoi čitateli. Komisijata za rasistička ednakvost na Velika Britanija pred tri godini ja prezede taa merka, zatoa što knigata "sodržela metafora i zborovi so skriena rasistička predrasuda".

Godard´s Socialisme at Cannes Film Festival by Zuzana Zelenakova

Jjean-Luc Godard is an icon not only in French film industry, his art is highly acclaimed all around the world. French and Swiss filmmaker was one of the pioneers of French New Wave that originated in the 1950s and was influenced by Italian Neorealism and Hollywood cinema. Godard´s first major movie was Breathless starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg. As most of his other creations also this one contains lot of film references, for example to the films of Ingmar Bergman, Samuel Fuller and others. He also often quotes from existentialism and Marxism. Vivre sa vie, Les Carabiniers, La Chinoise and Alphaville belong to his most famous movies. "I've always been int! erested in technique, not in art for technique's sake. In the last installments of "History of Cinema", I keep saying - or often have it said - that cinema is neither an art nor a technique, but a mystery. That's what differentiates it from painting, literature or music, all arts when undertaken by artists. Cinema is close to a religion. It is somewhat an act of faith, it is immediately perceivable, through photography, or a certain relationship between man and the world - is the world the work of man or vice-versa? I don't know. The two go together. (...) One could say television has 'un-taught' us to see. Television manufactures a few memories, but cinema - as it should have been - creates memory, i.e. the possibility of memory,“ said Godard once on film technique and video. His latest film Socialisme was submitted to the 63rd Cannes Film festival and will be screened in the Un Certain Regard section. The cast includes French philosopher Alain Badiou and American mu! sicians Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye. Most of the film will take! place o n a cruise ship sailing around the Mediterranean Sea. Godard has already uploaded six separate trailers for Socialisme onto YouTube. The trailers vary in length from 1:31-4:29.

Silent film about Lincoln found in New Hamshire starring Francis Ford by Zuzana Zelenakova

The only known copy of long lost movie When Lincoln Paid starring Francis Ford as Abraham Lincoln was found in an old barn in Nelson, new Hamshire that was scheduled to be demolished. "I was up in the attic space, and shoved away over in a corner was the film and a silent movie projector, as well," said Peter Massie about the discovery of 30-minute two-reeler. "I thought it was really cool." That was back in 2006, Massie kept the film canisters for a while before giving them to Keene State College, where professor Larry Benaquist concluded that this was truly a precious finding. The movie tells a story of a mother of a dead Union soldier who is trying to get a pardon from ! president Lincoln for a Confederate soldier condemned unjustly due to her revenge plotting. Francis Ford who played Lincoln was acknowledged actor, writer and director and also the older brother of director John Ford know for example for adapting to silver screen such classics as The Grapes of Wrath. Another one of his most recognized movies is The Quiet Man or The Long Voyage Home. The Ford brothers were both fascinated with the figure of Abraham Lincoln. “There is nothing I like better than to play Lincoln. I have a big library devoted to this great man, and I have studied every phase of his remarkable character, and when I am acting the part, I can feel the man as I judge him,” said Francis Ford once. Expert on Francis Ford Tag Gallagher explains that not only he was an intriguing personality of the time, but he was also a man, who influenced great John Ford. “Between 1912 and 1915 he played Abraham Lincoln in at least seven pictures. Alas, all of these! pictures are lost. For nearly a century no one has been able ! to see F rancis Ford as Lincoln,” Gallagher said. “So now … to be told that I may get to see Francis Ford as Lincoln is thrilling news indeed.”
