The Prophet - Fasicnating and Cruel

I have been waiting to see the Prophet for weeks. Suddenly two movies with the same theme appear in my library. There is Soom from Korean Kim Ki Duk and the Prophet from Jasques Audiard. Knowing Kim Ki Duk's movies, I choose it for the first evening. I can clearly predict, it would be metaphorical soft romance within the prison walls. Watching Soom I become to think of the Prophet. It's like being on date with a man while thinking of the another. It's exactly the same. From what is being known after seeing a trailer I can read out a great amount of realism, violence and adaptability a young prisoner has to show, if he wants to survive. The movie is not caring for the observ! er. It is going its own pace and values. Tell me, if you happen to get to the prison beaten to death, would you kill a person? An Eye for an eye. This is a part message of the movie. It also shows a young Arab thrown into Corsican prison facing death and decay of somehow promising future. But that man cay bend it for its own sake. And while becoming a feared man with highly moral adaptability, we also taste his life till the bitter end. Some say, people die as they live. But reducing to the final shot would trim so many emotions, experience and breathtaking time to pass. Prophet is a story about everyone of us. The picture of prison is a metaphor of the outer world. Both can be dangerous. Malik, the main character knows it. We can hardly guess it.

Silver Bear for Polanski´s The Ghost Writer

Roman Polanski´s political thriller The Ghost Writer starring Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan won the Silver Bear best director award at Berlin Film Festival this Saturday. Polanski who is still under house arrest in his chalet in Switzerland´s Gstaad could not accept the award in person. French producer Alain Sarde accepted the award on his behalf. “When I was lamenting with [Polanski] that he cannot be with us, he said to me, 'even if I could, I wouldn't because the last time I went to a festival to get a prize, I ended up in jail',” said Sarde. Polanski was referring to the event of September 26, 2009 when he arrived at the Zurich film festival i! n Switzerland to collect award for lifetime achievement and was arrested at the spot. Since then he has been under arrest, where he even did the final touches on the movie Ghost Writer. "Roman Polanski spends his days, his nights, again his days, again his nights, trying to finish his film," wrote his French philosopher friend Bernard Henry Levy on his blog several weeks after the director´s arrest. In 1977, Polanski was charged with the sexual assault of 13-year-old girl Samantha Geimer. According to the testimony of the girl, he gave her champagne and drugs and raped her at the Hollywood home of actor Jack Nicholson. The director of movies like The Pianist, The Ninth Gate or Chinatown fled to France to avoid jail. In 1993, Polanski paid Samantha Geimer at least $500,000 as a compensation. After that, Geimer confirmed that they are settled. However, due to the fact that he fled the United States of America prior to sentencing back in the 70s the charges are still pend! ing. In January 2010, California Superior Court decided that P! olanski must return to the US in order to be sentenced.

Une nouvelle étude apporte de la lumière sur la mort de Toutenkhamon

Le pharaon Toutenkhamon qui a régné sur l'Egypte entre 1333 et 1324 avant Jésus Christ représente l'un des sujets les plus intéressants et les plus connus de tous les temps. La découverte en 1922 de sa tombe intacte par Howard Carter a fait sensation au point de relancer l'intérêt du public pour l'Ancienne Egypte. Le masque funéraire de Toutenkhamon est l'un des objets archéologiques les plus reconnaissables. Il y a toujours eu beaucoup de controverses autour des circonstances de la mort du pharaon. Une étude récente suggère que le jeune-homme de 19 ans est mort de la malaria, pour être plus précis des complications d'une jambe cassée infectée par la malaria. "Une fracture traumatique de la jambe résultant vraisemblablement d'une chute a pu mettre les jours du pharaon en danger quand la malaria l'a infecté." a rapporté l'article concernant cette étude publié dans le ! Journal de l'Association Médicale Américaine. " Toutenkhamon souffrait de multiples maladies... Il peut être vu comme un roi jeune mais frêle ayant besoin de cannes pour marcher." Pendant deux ans, la momie de 3 300 ans du jeune pharaon et 15 autres momies ont fait l'objet de tests ADN et de scanners. L'étude a également tenté d'établir l'arbre généalogique du pharaon. D'après ces tests, le père de Toutenkhamon est le pharaon Akhénaton, un monarque révolutionnaire qui a essayé d'introduire une religion monothéiste en Egypte avec le culte du seul dieu Aton. La mère de Toutenkhamon était une des soeurs d'Akhénaton. Le jeune pharaon souffrait de maladies congénitales qui ont fragilisé son organisme. Jusqu'à un certain point, ces maladies étaient conditionnées par des mariages ou relations incestueuses entre les membres proches d'une même famille, ce qui ! était pratique courante dans l'Ancienne Egypte. Le Roi To! ut avait un pied-bot comme son grand-père et souffrait de la maladie de Khöler, une maladie rare des os qui empêche une bonne irrigation sanguine de certains os du pied. Il en résulte une nécrose du tissu osseux et une dégénérescence de l'os.

New study sheds a light on Tutankhamun´s death

Pharaoh Tutankhamun who ruled Egypt from 1333 BC to 1324 BC represents one of the most interesting and well-known archeological issues of all time. The discovery of his intact tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter was one of a kind sensation that boosted a new wave of public interest in ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun´s burial mask remains to this day one of the most recognizable archeological artefacts. There has been a lot of controversy about the cause of the pharaoh´s death. The latest study suggests 19-year-old young man died of malaria, to be more precise complications of a broken leg infected with malaria. "A sudden leg fracture possibly introduced by a fall might have! resulted in a life threatening condition when a malaria infection occurred," said the article concerning the study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. "Tutankhamun had multiple disorders... He might be envisioned as a young but frail king who needed canes to walk." For two years the 3,300 year-old mummy of the young pharaoh and 15 others have been objects of DNA testing and CT scans. The study tried to establish his family tree as well. According to the tests, Tut´s father was Pharaoh Akhenaten, quite a revolutionary ruler who tried to introduce monotheistic religion in Egypt, the cult of the only god Aton. Tutankhamun´s mother was one of Akhenaten´s sisters. The young pharaoh suffered from congenital diseases that weakened his whole organism. To certain extent these were genetically conditioned as incestuous marriages or relationships between close relatives were a common practice in ancient Egypt. King Tut has a club foot like his! grandfather and suffered from Kohler´s disease, a rare b! one diso rder when particular bones in the foot lack the sufficient blood supply. As a result, tissue in the bone dies and the bone collapses.

Nová štúdia spresnila príčinu smrti faraóna Tutanchamóna

Faraón Tutanchamón, ktorý vládol Egyptu v rokoch 1333 až 1324 pred Kristom predstavuje jednu z najzaujímavejších a najznámejších archeologických otázok všetkých čias. Objavenie jeho nedotknutej hrobky v roku 1922 Howardom Carterom bolo neuveriteľnou senzáciou a prinieslo novú vlnu záujmu verejnosti o staroveký Egypt. Tutanchamónova pohrebná maska je dodnes jedným z najrozpoznávanejších archeologických artefaktov. O príčine faraónovej smrti sa veľa špekulovalo. Podľa najnovšieho výskumu 19-roč! ;ný mladý muž zomrel v dôsledku malárie, presnejšie v dôsledku komplikácií zlomeniny ľavej nohy, ktorá bola napadnutá maláriou. „Zlomenina nohy, ktorá mohla byť spôsobená pádom mohla spolu s maláriou predstavovať smrteľnú kombináciu,“ píše sa v článku o výsledkoch nového výskumu, ktorý bol uverejnený v časopise Journal of the American Medical Association. Tutanchamón mal mnoho zdravotných problémov... Môžeme si ho predstaviť ako mladého no krehkého kráľa, ktorý pri chôdzi používal palicu.“ Dva roky boli 3 300-ročná múmia mladého faraóna a 15 ďalších podrobované testom DNA a CT vyšetreniam. Štúdia sa snažila preskúmať i jeho rodokmeň. Podľa v&! #253;sledkov testov bol Tutanchamónovým otcom fara&#! 243;n Ac hnaton, revolučný vladár, ktorý sa snažil v Egypte zaviesť monoteistické náboženstvo, kult jediného boha Atona. Jeho matkou bola jedna z Achnatonových sestier. Mladý faraón trpel niekoľkými vrodenými chorobami, ktoré oslabovali celý jeho imunitný systém. Do určitej miery boli genetický podmienené, keďže incest bol v starovekom Egypte bežnou praxou. Podobne ako jeho starý otec i Tutanchamón mal tzv. „konskú nohu“ a trpel Köhlerovou chorobou, ktorá zabraňuje dostatočnému prekrvovaniu dolných končatín, výsledkom sú výrazne oslabené kosti.

Alexander McQueen a été retrouvé mort chez lui jeudi dernier. Bien que les urgences aient été appelées à 10h20, elles n'ont pu que constater le décès de McQueen. Le porte-parole de Scoland Yard a déclaré que la mort du célèbre créateur de mode n'avait rien de suspect et qu'il s'était probablement suicidé, même si cela reste à confirmer. Lorsqu'une personnalité comme McQueen meurt, les gens sont surpris parce qu'ils croient qu'être célèbre et avoir du succès amènent automatiquement le bonheur. En fait, McQueen manquait probablement beaucoup d'assurance et était déprimé. Sa mère est morte juste quelques jours avant que le créateur ne se donne la mort. Ce décès a entraîné chez lui un désespoir bien compréhensible qu'il a essayé de combattre comme on a pu le lire sur sa page Twitter lorsqu'il écri! vait : "Maintenant, je dois me ressaisir d'une façon ou d'une autre." Que le motif de son suicide soit lié à la mort de sa mère n'est toujours pas établi. Mais la triste réalité nous montre qu'il n'a pas su faire face à cette raison, quelle qu'elle soit.McQueen est né en 1969 à Londres. Son père était chauffeur de taxi, sa mère enseignait les sciences sociales. Son intention de devenir créateur de mode a été visible dès son plus jeune âge alors qu'il confectionnait des robes pour ses soeurs. Il a étudié à Rokeby School où il fut un élève moyen. Puis il est entré comme apprenti chez les couturiers Savile Row, avant de rejoindre Gieves & Hawkes puis le groupe des costumiers de théâtre Angles and Bermans. En 1996, McQueen a été nommé à la tête des créateurs chez Givenchy, mais il décida de suivre sa propre voi! e. Il était connu pour ses tactiques controversées e! t choqua ntes comme celle d'inclure le modèle Aimee Mullins, double amputée, à un défilé de mode. Il a été le créateur le plus jeune à recevoir le titre de "créateur britannique de l'année" qu'il a gagné 4 fois. Il a également été nommé Commandeur de l'Empire Britannique et Créateur International de l'Année. Nous pourrions continuer, mais tout cela n'a plus d'importance puisqu'il a maintenant disparu.

A quoi reconnaît-on une oeuvre d'art ?

Comment reconnaît-on une oeuvre d'art ? Est-ce sa valeur séculaire, son apparence singulière ou juste le nom de l'artiste qui l'a faite ? En fait, je n'en sais rien et cela ne m'a jamais vraiment intéressé. Pour que j'appelle quoi que ce soit une oeuvre d'art, il faut que cela m'interpelle, m'attire l'oeil ou l'esprit, que ça me force à réfléchir ou même tout simplement à le fixer ! La combinaison de tout cela transforme ce petit morceau de quelque chose en chef d'oeuvre ! Les sculptures de Giacometti avaient ce petit je-ne-sais-quoi de chef d'oeuvre. Les oeuvres de ce sculpteur Suisse (également peintre) résistent à toute catégorisation. On les a tour à tour rangées dans le formalisme, l'expressionisme, le modernisme et l'existentialisme. Comme je n'ai jamais su grand chose sur ces mouvements artistiques, je me suis confiné à l'idée que le plus important était de reconna! ître ces oeuvres en tout temps et tout lieu. C'est ce qui fait une oeuvre d'art de ce morceau de bois, de métal ou de toile. Les sculptures de Giacometti sont exactement de cette nature. Vous reconnaissez immédiatement qu'elles ont été faites de ses mains. Ses sculptures grandeur nature, aux allures de brindilles, de formes humaines ont été faites en bronze. Et elles portent toutes sa marque de fabrique. Leur simplicité initiale cache quelque chose qui vous forcera à y penser ou simplement à vous en souvenir. C'est peut-être aussi la raison pour laquelle la première statue de Giacometti de la série "L'homme qui marche" a été vendue pour 104,3 millions de dollars aux enchères Sotheby à Londres. On s'attendait à une acquisition pour 29 millions de dollars mais un coup de fil anonyme a tout changé. Les ventes ont démarré à 12 millions de livres et ont duré prè! ;s de 8 minutes entre au moins 10 acquéreurs. L'enché! ;risseur anonyme au téléphone a payé plus de 4 fois la somme qui avait battu le précédent record pour une oeuvre mise aux enchères établi par la peinture de Pablo Picasso, "Garçon à la pipe". Comme l'a déclaré Helena Newman du département Impressionisme et Art Moderne chez Sotheby : "Ce prix reflète l'extraordinaire importance de cette oeuvre exceptionnellement rare."

Telo Alexandra McQueena bolo nájdené v jeho dome vo štvrtok doobeda. Pohotovosť bola privolaná o 10:20 ráno, McQueen bol však prehlásený za mŕtveho. Hovorca Scotland Yardu povedal, že nič nenasvedčuje, že by išlo o vraždu, s najväčšou pravdepodobnosťou išlo o samovraždu, hoci ani tá nebola ešte oficiálne potvrdená. Keď niekto ako McQueen zomrie, ľudia zostanú na moment v šoku. Ako keby známy a úspešný človek musel byť automaticky aj šťastný. On bol však s najväčš! ou pravdepodobnosťou neistý a topil sa v depresiách. Jeho matka zomrela len pár dní pred tým, ako si tento známy návrhár sám siahol na život. Jej smrť logicky viedla k jeho zúfalstvu a beznádeji, no ako bolo možné vidieť na jeho Twitter profile, snažil sa proti tomu bojovať, keď napísal: „teraz sa musím nejako pozviechať.“ Či bola motívom k jeho samovražde práve spomínaná strata milovanej matky je však otázne. Nech už boli jeho dôvody na tento čin akékoľvek, nezvládol ich. McQueen sa narodil v roku 1969 v Londýne. Jeho otec pracoval ako taxikár a jeho matka bola učiteľkou sociálnych vied. Už ako malý chlapec, ktorý šil svojim sestrám šaty, túžil po kariére módneho návrhára. Navštevoval š! kolu Rokeby, kde bol priemerným študentom. Potom sl&! #250; 82;il učňovské roky u krajčírov Savile Row, neskôr sa pripojil ku Gieves a Hawkes až napokon pracoval s divadelnými kostymérmi Angels a Bermans. V roku 1996 bol vyhlásený za vedúceho návrhára Givenchy, avšak on si chcel vyšliapať svoju vlastnú cestičku. Bol známy svojou kontroverznosťou a šokovými taktikami, ako keď do svojej show pozval modelku Aimee Mullins, ktorej boli kvôli zákernej chorobe už v prvom roku jej života amputované obe nohy od kolien dolu. McQueen bol najmladším dizajnérom, ktorý získal titul „Britský dizajnér roku“. Vyhral ho celkom štyrikrát. Získal tiež vyznamenanie CBE a bol menovaný Medzinárodným dizajnérom roka. Mohli by sme takto pokračovať ďalej, to však akosi už stráca svoj význam. On tu! s nami už nie je...

Alexander McQueen was found dead at his home on Thursday. Emergency was called at 10.20 a.m. but McQueen was pronounced dead. Spokesman of Scotland Yard said there is nothing suspicious of his death and this famous fashion designer probably committed suicide, even it was not confirmed. When someone like McQueen dies, people are shocked as they believe that when someone is popular and successful he must be automatically happy as well. McQueen was probably very insecure and depressed. His mother died just few days before designer ended his own life. Her death lead to rational desperation but as it was seen on designer’s Twitter page he tried to fight against it when he ! wrote: “now I have to somehow pull myself together.” If the motive for his suicide was related to his mother’s death is still interrogative. But the sad reality shows that whatever the reason was, he didn’t manage it. McQueen was born in 1969 in London. His father worked as a taxi driver, his mother was a social science teacher. His intention to become a fashion designer started at a young age when he was making dresses for his sisters. He attended Rokeby School where he was an average student. After that he served an apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors, later he joined Gieves & Hawkes and after that he worked with theatrical costumiers Angels and Bermans. In 1996 McQueen was instated as head designer at Givenchy, but he wanted to walk another path. He was famous for his controversy and shock tactics such as including double amputee model Aimee Mullins to his fashion show. He was the youngest designer who achieved the title “British Designe! r of the Year”, which he won four times. He was also awa! rded the CBE and named International Designer of the Year. We could continue, but it is not important anymore. He is gone.

How can be an art piece recognized?

How do you recognize an art piece? Is it rated by its secular value, is it judged by its unusual appearance or is it just valued by the name of artist who made it? Actually I don’t know and I really never care for it. When there is anything I could call an artwork, it must be able to catch me, catch my eyes and my mind, and it must force me to think or even at least stare at it! Combination of all these things makes from that little piece of whatever a masterpiece! Giacometti’s sculptures were some kind of masterpieces. Works of this Swiss sculptor (but also painter) resist easy categorization. They were put into formalism, expressionism, modernism and also exis! tentialism. As I never know lot about these art forms, I just confirmed myself in the view that the most important is to recognize it anytime and anywhere. That makes from a piece of wood, steel or canvas work of art. Giacometti’s sculptures were just like that. You know immediately they were made by his hands. His life-size, stick-think sculptures of human form were made from bronze. And they simply carry his handwriting. The initial simplicity is hiding something what will compels you to think about it or at least remember it. Maybe that was also the reason why the first of Giacometti’s statue of “Walking man” series was sold for 104.3 million dollars at a Sotheby’s auction in London. It was expected to go for up to 29 million dollars, but one anonymous telephone changed it. Sale opened at 12 million pounds started eight minutes lasting bidding between at least 10 purchasers. The anonymous telephone bidder paid almost four times that amount w! hat beat the previous record for a work at auction set by Pabl! o Picass o’s painting “Garcon a la Pipe”. As said Helena Newman from Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern Art department: “The price is a reflection of the extraordinary importance of this exceptionally rare work.”

Qui a marqué le Grammy Awards?

Le 52ème Grammy awards ont eu lieu le week-end passé et pour être honnête la plupart des artistes de musique commerciale de partout du monde (ou disons de sa partie occidentale) recherchaient une morsure. Cette fois le vainqueur de la barre principale des artistes américains a été pris par l'attaque finale de la chanteuse de R&B Beyonce. Cette chanteuse et actrice très active et douée, a été nommée dans dix catégories desquelles six se sont converties en victoire. La chanson de l'année était son chanson réussie “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On it). Beyonce a également exécuté u! n étonnant performance de vie. Le groupe du rock Kings of Leon a gagné dans la catégorie l'enregistrement de l'année avec le dessin-modèle “Use Somebody”. La chanteuse newYorkaise Lady Gaga a gagné deux récompenses pour un tube dansant « Poker Face ». Continuant avec les artistes traditionnels nous ne pouvons pas omettre Black Eyed Peas qui ont rassemblé trois Grammys pour le meilleur vidéo à courte-forme et les meilleurs performation et album pop vocal. Il y avait également des moments de succès remportés par les artistes européens, particulièrement parmi les musiciens français. Le groupe français d'indie Phoenix a gagné le meilleur album alternatif avec leur « Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix ». Ce qui est vraiment curieux parce que Phoenix a plus de succès dans l'étranger qu'en France. Les critiques français ne les ont pas ! attribué beaucoup de crédit, mais le fait est que Ph! oenix av ec ses paroles anglaises et son style clairement déterminé pouvait frapper et gagner à la récompense principale de musique. La deuxième victoire a appartenu au DJ dansant français DJ Guetta pour le meilleur remix “When Love Takes Over” mettant en vedette Kelly Rowland. Guetta et son épouse sont bien connus pour leurs parties célèbres de danse tenues non seulement en France, mais également en Espagne et sur l'île d'Ibiza.

Tsonga a battu Djokovic

Le jouer de tennis français Jo Wilfried Tsonga a battu numéro 1 serbe de tennis Novak Djokovic. Tsonga qui est placé au 10ème rang dans le monde entier a gagné contre Djokovic, placé 3ème, dans le quart de finale à l'Open d'Australie. Les deux joueurs se sont rencontrés dans le duel à la même occasion, toutefois c'était Djokovic quittant le court en tant que vainqueur. Tsonga a repris son vengeance et rencontrera le meilleur joueur actuel Roger Federer dans le semi-finale. Le match était plutôt dramatique parce qu'il a été composé de cinq sets. Excepté de Nicolas Almagro, Tsonga n'avai! t jamais avant joué un tel long duel. Les résultats étaient les suivants: 7-6 (10/8), 6-7 (5/7), 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Maintenant le monde entier connaît ce J. D. Salinger qui vient de nous quitter. Sa mort a provoqué une autre vague d'intérêt pour cet vieil homme étrange dont 'L'Attrape-cœurs' est identifié comme une oeuvre classique de la littérature américaine. Jerome David Salinger, de même que son nom et prénoms, a devenu l'une des personnalités littéraires les plus influentes du 20ème siècle. Il a été élevé à Manhattan et commencé sa carière en écrivant des courtes histoires lorsqu'il allait à l'école secondaire. Le père de Salinger était un juif polon! ais vendant le fromage koscher. Comme il a voulu que son fils se consacre à la carrière appropriée, il a envoyé J. D. (peu de temps après qu'il était viré de l'université de New York) à Vienne en Autriche. Là on lui devrait apprendre à faire des affaires de l'importation de la viande. Lorsque la deuxième guerre mondiale s,approchait, jeune Salinger est parti de Vienne juste un mois après son arrivée. Son amour à la littérature était assez fort pour lui garantir un succès impressionnant. Après les 7 essais littéraires rejetés, le New Yorker a finalement édité une histoire juste avant la guerre. Mais le vrai succès est venu en 1951 où son chef-d'oeuvre 'L'Attrape-cœurs' a été édité. Le protagoniste et le narrateur de ce roman étaient un garçon Holden Caulfield de 17 ans qui est devenu une légende littéraire e! t a apporté à Salinger de la renommée et du suc! cès qu'il n'a pas voulu réellement. Il a publié d'autres livres et un recueil d'histoires telles que Franny et Zooey ou Neuf histoires qui cependant n'étaient pas aussi populaires que 'L'Attrape-Coeurs'. Après la popularité énorme de ce livre il est devenu reclusive. Seulement deux ou trois fois il a été rappelé dans le monde littéraire mais toujours avec le même manque d'intérêt de son côté. J. D. nous a abandonné à l'âge de 91 le 27 janvier 2010. Il n'a pas souffert d'aucune douleur. R.I.P.

Giacometti's sculpture is most expensive ever!

I was never into names, to be honest. But I always remember faces, shapes, colors and so. I have got visual memory what can be very useful. However when you are interested in art, visual memory is useless if you cannot remember the name of the artist. Anyway, it is still fine if you remember at least something. As for Giacometti’s works there is nothing a man could forget. Works of this Swiss sculptor (and also painter) resist easy categorization. Some see formalism, others expressionism, modernism or existentialism. I think the point is actually in something else – in recognition. When you look at Giacometti’s sculptures you know almost immediately it was! made by his hands. His life-size, stick-thin sculptures of the human form made from bronze carry his handwriting. And even though they look so ordinary, there is something what catches your eye and mind. That is probably a reason why the first of Giacometti’s statue of “Walking man” series was sold for 104.3 million dollars at a Sotheby’s auction in London. It was expected to go for up to 29 million dollars, but one anonymous telephone changed it. Sale opened at 12 million pounds started eight minutes lasting bidding between at least 10 purchasers. Anonymous telephone bidder made offer that beat the others. The buyer paid almost four times that amount what beat the previous record for a work at auction set by Pablo Picasso’s painting “garcon a la Pipe”. It warmed up other buyers so much, they snapped up a string of other sought after art works and brought more than 235 million dollars what is the highest value sale ever staged in L! ondon. Qui a remporté les Grammy Awards ?

Les 52e Grammy Awards ont eu lieu le week-end dernier et, soyons honnête, la plupart des artistes de musique commerciale du monde (ou disons d'occident) cherchait à gagner une part du gâteau. Cette fois, la position de vainqueur parmi les artistes de variété principalement américains a subi l'attaque en règle de la chanteuse R&B Beyoncé. Cette chanteuse-actrice très active et talentueuse a été nominée dans 10 catégories dont 6 se sont transformées en victoire. La chanson de l'année a été son tube "Single ladies (Put a ring on it)". Beyoncé a également servi une époustouflante! performance en direct. Le groupe rock Kings of Leon a gagné dans la catégorie album de l'année avec son opus "Use somebody". La chanteuse new-yorkaise Lady Gaga a remporté 2 trophées pour son tube dance "Poker face". En continuant avec les artistes de variété, on ne peut pas éviter les Black Eyed Peas qui ont récolté 3 grammys pour le meilleur clip vidéo, la meilleure performance et le meilleur album vocal pop. Les artistes européens ont aussi eu leur moment de gloire, spécialement les musiciens français. Le groupe français indépendant Phoenix a remporté le trophée du meilleur album alternatif avec leur "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix". Ceci est d'autant plus curieux que Phoenix a plus de succès à l'étranger qu'en France. Les critiques français ne leur ont accordé que peu de crédit, pourtant Phoenix avec ses paroles anglaises et son style bien trempé a ! 33;té capable de faire un tube et de remporter un troph&#! 233;e mu sical majeur. Une deuxième victoire à ajouter au palmarès français est celle du DJ Guetta pour le meilleur remix "When love takes over", avec Kelly Rowland. Guetta et sa femme sont bien connus pour leurs fameuses soirées dance organisées non seulement en France, mais aussi en Espagne et l'île d'Ibiza.

L'Haïti unie les gens partout au monde

L'humanité s'indique dans le visage de l'adversité. Quand une tragédie frappe les gensse reunissent et cessent de leurs activités quotidiennes pour donner une main d'aide, montrant qu'il y a toujours un espoir à un monde meilleur, à un monde sans mesquinerie et avidité, sans haine ou égoïsme. Un tremblement de terre massif a frappé le Haïti qui a massacré plus de 150000 personnes et a déplacé beaucoup d'autres en causant le dommage considérant sur tout le territoire. Les pays tout autour du monde se sont relevés et ont expédié des fonds, de la nourriture, du per! sonnel qualifié des équipes médicales aux ingénieurs. Les personnes plus chanceuses de ce monde, les riches et célèbrités, ne sont pas reculé en arrière non plus, soit ils offrent aussi bien de l'argent, soit ils lancent des projets pour augmenter des fonds soutenant le rétablissement du Haïti. Parmi les projets les plus célèbres appartient celui de George Clooney et de Simon Cowell qui projette lancer un nombre record de célébrités impliquées dans une charité comme Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Will.I.Am, et ainsi de suite. Le projet de George Clooney copie le modèle du collecteur de fonds de telethon tenu après le 11 septembre 2001. Autour 130 célébrités se sont réunies vendredi au telethon « Hope for Haiti Now » pour montrer aux survivants du tremblement de terre qu'ils ne sont pas seuls. Peut-ê! ;tre les célébrités comme Madonna, Bono, Beyonc! e, Jay-Z n'ont pas vécu une expérience semblable, et ne seraient pas en même position comme les victimes du Haïti, elles peuvent également offrir de l'appui et de la compréhention, comme toute une autre personne. Leonardo DiCaprio, la couple de Brangelina et Clooney étaient des donateurs les plus généreux donnant 1 million de dollars aux organismes comme Les fonds Clinton-Bush pour Haïti,ou Les opérations de MSF. Facebook et MySpace ont également offert l'appui en advertissant l'événement et l'industrie de divertissement a renoncé à tous les honoraires administratifs. L'événement des célébrités avait un succès et il y avait lancé un album qui s'est placé premier dans la liste d'iTunes. Avec plus de $58 millions collectés, le telethon de deux heures qui a accueilli Clooney et Wyclef Jean peut être considéré comme un succ&! #232;s.

A peine quelques semaines après avoir fêté son 91e anniversaire, l'auteur du fameux roman "L'attrape-coeurs" John Salinger est mort le 27 janvier dernier à son domicile du New Hampshire. D'après certains commentateurs, Salinger bénéficiait d'une santé exceptionnelle et n'a pas souffert à sa mort. L'annonce de son décès s'est répandue dans tous les journaux de la planète. Mais il y avait quelque chose de dérangeant dans ce message. Il était trop sobre, rien à voir avec le tapage de la mort de certains. Salinger a connu son succès peu après la publication de "L'attrape-coeurs". Il a lutt! é contre l'attention et est très vite sorti des projecteurs. Il est retourné chez lui, gardant jalousement son intimité. Il a également publié moins fréquemment. Ceci est une attitude rare de nos jours de se retirer clairement et rapidement comme de montrer au monde que la gloire ne représente rien. Et cela nous rend Salinger d'autant plus que sympathique. En tant qu'être humain, il a acquis des expériences uniques de son vivant. Son enfance fut d'accomplir les désirs de ses parents, par exemple de devenir importateur de viande en provenance d'Autriche. Il s'enrôla dans l'armée américaine et a survécu à la bataille de Normandie. Après la libération de l'Allemagne, il s'est rendu dans les camps de concentration et travailla avec les prisonniers de guerre. Il a également rencontré Hemingway avec qui il entretint une correspondance durant la guerre. Marqué et blessé pa! r le traumatisme de la guerre, il repartit chez lui mais, comm! e de nom breuses personnes de sa génération, il n'en s'est jamais vraiment remis. Cependant, il détestait toute affectation et a toujours défendu son oeuvre avec ferveur. Il y eu plusieurs suites à "L'attrape-coeurs", écrites par d'autres auteurs. Salinger les a systématiquement attaqués en justice. Il a déclaré qu'il n'existait qu'un seul Holden Caulfield. Salinger a également refusé toute proposition d'adaptation cinématographique de son roman. Selon lui, la seule personne capable de jouer Caulfield était lui-même.

Kto bude víťazkou na Australian Open? Najlepšie tenistky sveta Serena Williamsová a Justine Heninová sa stretnú v boji o titul už túto sobotu. Australian Open sa zakončí napínavým zápasom mezdi Serenou Williamsovou, obhájkyňou titulu a Jusine Heninovou, tkroá sa vrátila po 18-mesačnej pauze. Heninová sa dostal do finále po tom, čo jej s ľahkosťou vyhrala nad Číňankou Zheng Jie 6-1, 6-0, zatiaľ čo húževnatá Serena tvrdo pracovala na zdolaní ďalšej čínskej tenistke Li Na, ktorú porazila 7-6, 7-6. Minulý mesiac sa v Miami odohral zápas dvojích, ktorý vyhrala mladšia Williamsová 6-2, 6-0. O šesť týždňov neskôr jej však Heninová zavolala, že končí. Williamsová a Heninová sa naposled! y stretli na zápase US Open v roku 2007. Toto stretnutie znamenalo pre Heninovú veľké víťazstvo, keď porzaila Serenu aj Venus Williamsové a získala titul. Bol to vzácny úspech. V roku 2007 Heninová zastavila Serenu v troch zo štyroch grand slamoch a stala sa najlepšou tenisovou hráčkou sveta. Hoci Heninová a Serena Williamsová sa stretoli už 13 krát, ešte nikdy sa nestretli na finále Australian Open. Serena zatiaľ vedie, zvíťazila sedemkrát a Henin len šesťkrát. Aj keď sa na Australian Open nikdy nestretli, obe tento titul už vyhrali. Serena vyhrala štyrikrát v rokoch 2003, 2005, 2007 a 2009. Heninová vyhrala iba raz, v roku 2004. O dva roky neskôr sa dostala do finále, ale vzdala sa v polovici zápasu kvôli ochoreniu žalúdka. Heninovej tohtoro! čný návrat je skutočne veľkolepý! . Podari lo sa jej poraziť niekoľko slávnych hráčov, vrátane Jeleny Dementievová z Ruska. Zatiaľ je na 81-mieste vo svetovom rebríčku, ale to sa zmení, keď zvíťazí v zápase nad Williamsovou. Now the whole world knows that J. D. Salinger left us. His death caused another wave of interest in this strange old man whose The Catcher in the Rye is recognized as a classic of American literature. Jerome David Salinger, as was his full name, has become one of the most influential literary personalities of the 20th century. He was raised in Manhattan and started with writing short stories when he was attending secondary school. Salinger’s father was a Polish Jew selling kosher cheese. As he wanted his son to devote to proper career, he sent J. D. (shortly after he dropped out of New York University) to Austrian Vienna. There he should have been taught how to do the! meat-importing business. As the Second World War was coming, young Salinger left Vienna just one month after his arrival. His love to literature was strong enough to guarantee him later success. After 7 rejected stories, the New Yorker finally published one just before the war. But the real success came in 1951 when his master piece The Catcher in the Rey was published. The protagonist and narrator of this novel was 17-year-old boy Holden Caulfield who became a literary legend and brought Salinger fame and success he actually didn’t want. He published another books and collection of stories such as Franny and Zooey or Nine Stories which however weren’t as popular as the Catcher. After huge popularity of this book he became reclusive. Only two or three times he was recalled in the literary world but always with the same lack of interest from his side. J. D. left us at the age of 91 on January 27, 2010. He was not in any pain. R.I.P.

52nd Grammy Awards took place last weekend and be honest most of the commercial music artists from all over the world (or let's say its western part) were looking for a bite.This time the winner in among mostly American mainstream artists was taken by the ultimate attack of R&B singer Beyonce. This very active and gifted singer, actress was nominated in ten categories from which six have changed into a victory. The song of the year was her hit single “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On it). Beyonce also performed amazing live performance. Rock band Kings of Leon won in the category the Recodr of the year with artwork “Use Somebody”. New York singer Lady Gaga gai! ned two awards for a dance hit “Poker Face”. Carrying on with mainstream artists we can't skip Black Eyed Peas that summoned three Grammys for best short-form music video, best performance and best pop vocal album. There were also moments of success among European artists, especially among French musicians. French indie band Phoenix won the best alternative album with their “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”. It is even more oddly, because Phoenix is more successful in abroad than in France. French critics didn't add them much credit, but still Phoenix with its english lyrics and clearly determined style was able to hit and score major music award. The second victory belonged to French dance DJ Guetta for the best remix “When Love Takes Over” featuring Kelly Rowland. Guetta and his wife are well known for their famous dance parties held not only in France, but also in Spain and the island of Ibiza.

Who will win the Aussie title? The best tennis players Serena Williams and Justine Henin renewed their rivalry. The Australian Open women's single will end with spectacular match. Serena Williams, the defending champion, will meet with Justine Henin, who came back after an 18-month lay off. Henin got to the finale after she had easily swept past Chinese Zheng Jie 6-1, 6-0, while tenacious Serena had hard work to beat another Chinese Li Na 7-6, 7-6. Last month the younger Williams won the pair's match played in Miami 6-2, 6-0. But six weeks later Henin called her saying that she quits. Their previous match at US Open quarters in 2007 meant a big victory for Henin, when she won the title over both Serena and Venus Williams. It was a rare accomplishment. In 2007 Henin stopped Serena at the three of four grand slams at the quarters and she became the world No. 1 tennis player. Although Henin and Serena Williams have already met 13 times, they have never met at a Grand Sl! ams final match. Serena leads as she won seven times and Henin only six. Though they have never met at the Australian Open, they both have won the title. Serena has won four times in years 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Henin won only once, in 2004. Two years later she got to the final, but withdrew in the middle of the match due to a stomach ailment. Henin's comeback this year is spectacular. She beat several fancied players, including Elena Dementieva from Russia. Today she is ranked 81 in the world, but that would change if she won the match. On the other hand, Serena won't give up easily, her aim is to consolidate her position as the top player in the world.

La crise économique a affecté très sérieusement les moyens de transport. Les compagnies aériennes du monde entier rencontrent des difficultés, ainsi certaines, qui n'ont pas su faire face à la pression et aux pertes financières, ont déclaré faillite comme c'est le cas pour Japan Airlines, Frontier Airlines ou Northwest Airlines etc. Le prix de l'essence ayant grimpé en flêche, voyager en voiture et même en bus revient de plus en plus cher, ce qui pourrait amener les gens à considérer un moyen de transport plus économique, en même temps confortable et plus sûr : le train.David Azém! a, responsable stratégie et finance à la SNCF, a déclaré dans une entrevue accordée à France24 que les résultats pour 2009 avaient stagné à la fois pour le transport de personnes et de marchandise. Même si l'objectif est de doubler les profits d'ici 2012, Azéma ne croit pas que les revenus n'augmentent de plus de 50% d'ici là. Il faut une nouvelle équipe de direction et une nouvelle stratégie de marché pour renouveler les transports ferroviaires, ce qui pourra alors permettre de multiplier les profits par 2.Des faiblesses structurelles sont caractéristiques des chemins de fer parce qu'ils ne peuvent pas concurrencer les prix pratiqués par les transports routiers et parce que les coûts de réparation génèrent des pertes. Azéma considère que le transport de marchandise est non seulement un problème pour la SNCF mais qu'il constitue aussi une antinomie avec la! politique de respect de l'environnement. C'est pourquoi la SN! CF trava ille actuellement avec les pouvoirs publics afin de trouver une solution.Un autre souci plane au dessus de l'avenir de la SNCF, c'est la libéralisation du transport passager à travers l'Europe. La compétition sera d'autant plus rude et le monopole actuel pourrait être perdu, mais la différence du transport à grande vitesse sera finalement assurée par la qualité de service, la stratégie marketing. La SNCF n'est seulement une société sûre, prête à affronter la compétition, mais elle est aussi capable de planifier son expansion au Maroc, aux Etats Unis et de développer de nombreux autres projets.

Tsonga a battu Djokovic

Le joueur de tennis Français Jo Wilfried Tsonga a battu le numéro 1 Serbe, Novak Djokovic. Tsonga, tête de série numéro 10, a vaincu Djokovic, 3e du classement, en quart de finale de l'Open d'Australie. Les deux joueurs s'étaient déjà rencontrés dans les mêmes circonstances, mais Djokavic avait alors quitté le court en vainqueur. Tsonga a donc pris sa revanche et rencontrera l'actuel meilleur joueur mondial, Roger Federer, en demi-finale. Le match fut plein de rebondissements et a duré 5 sets. Mis à part contre Nicolas Almagro, Tsonga n'avait jamais joué un si long match. Voici le résultats des sets ! : 7-6 (10/8), 6-7 (5/7), 1-6, 6-3, 5-1. Le joueur de tennis Français rencontrera le Suisse Federer vendredi. Le numéro 1 mondial a quant à lui gagné son match contre le Russe Nikolay Davidenko, tête de série numéro 6. Le match fut clair dès le départ avec 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 et 7-5 pour Federer. La rencontre de vendredi promet d'être intéressante. Federer est numéro 1 du classement depuis 237 semaines consécutives et est le premier joueur, et donc le seul, à avoir retrouvé sa place en tête de classement après l'avoir perdue. Lors du match entre le Français et le Serbe, Tsonga a déclaré être en bonne forme physique, peut-être un peu mieux que Djokovic. Djokovic a réclamé une attention médicale. Il s'est plaint de maux d'estomac et a perdu le 3e comme les deux derniers sets. Il avait déclaré forfait contre l'Américain Andy Roddick l'année ! dernière à cause de fièvre et de crampes. Il s'! agissait alors aussi des quarts de finale. Avant de rencontrer Djokovic, Tsonga avait vaincu Sergiy Stakhovsky puis l'Américain Taylor Dent. Il a acquis sa 3e victoire dans ce tournoi contre l'Allemand Tommy Haas. Puis ce fut au tour de Nicolas Almagro d'être battu par Tsonga, ce qui lui a permis de rencontrer Djokovic. A présent, malgré un match qui s'annonce très difficile, il est prêt à affronter le meilleur joueur du moment.

Salinger zomrel tak ticho, ako viedol posledných 50. rokov svojho života v dome v New Hampshire. Podľa svedkov disponoval silným zdravím a jeho smrť bola bezbolestná. Správa okamžite obletela svetové magazíny a média. Napriek tomu v sebe niesla niečo znepokojivé. Salinger bol výraznou literárnou bytosťou, napriek všetkému na míle vzdialenou bohémskym predstavám, ktorých atmosféru so sebou! výrazné bytosti prinášajú. Salingerova smrť bola úplne obyčajná, ba zdalo by sa, že okrem práce, niet o ňom čo napísať.Salinger zápasil s verejným záujmom, čoskoro potom, čo sa novela “Kto chytá v žite” dostala do tlače. Navzdory hviezdnym chúťkam dnešnej doby, sa Salinger z verejného života okamžite sťahuje. Stiahol sa do svojho domu, zriedkavo vystupoval, zriedkavo poskytoval rozhovory, nuž a zriedkavejšie pubikoval. Ako osobnosť Salinger disponoval množstvom, azda až prílišným množstvom zážitkov a skúseností. V detstve a mladosti musel napĺňať predstavy svojich rodičov. Ich konaním Salinger prejavuje svoj vzdor. S postavami sa silno identifikuje a váži si ich. Jeho jazyk, postoj jeho postáv k zvyšku ! sveta ho preslávili.A spravili úspešným autorom bestsellerov. Salinger však túto rolu neznášal. O svoje diela však tvrdo bojoval. Vždy keď sa objavilo pokračovanie novely “Kto chytá v žite”, Salinger hájil svoje práva súdnou cestou. Ako vyhlásil, je len jeden Holden Caufield. Takisto zamietol všetky pokusy o filmovú adaptáciu uvedeného diela. Dôvod – je len jeden človek, ktorý by bol schopný stvárniť Holdena Caufielda – bol by to autor sám.

Just few weeks after his 91st birthday, the author of the world well known novel “The Catcher in the Rye”, John Salinger died in his home in New Hapshire on January 27. According some comments Salinger had had an extraordinary health and didn't suffer during the death.The title about his death came across the magazines all over the world. But there was also something disturbing within the message. It was too peaceful, there was nothing glamorous that such deaths of such people bring along. Salinger gained a public success, soon after the Catcher was published. He struggled the attention, but soon got over from the sights. He moved back into his house, carefully ! keeping his privacy.He had also published less frequently. That is a pose rarely seen these days.It is the clear and prompting step back, showing the world, the fame means less than nothing.And that's more than sympathetic about Salinger.As a person, he had had huge experiences during his lifetime. His childhood was about accomplishing his parent's wishes, for instance to being a meat importer from Austria. He moved into the U.S. army and survived the battle of Normandia. After the liberation of the Germany, he visited concentration camps and worked with the war prisoners. He also met Hemingway with whom he kept corresponding during the wartime.Being stressed and hurt by the trauma of war he returned back and as many of his generation he had never fully recovered. That was visible from his work. He used young heros with whom he had identified. They used energetic and honest language. The honesty went to the bones and mixed with fears and the needles pinching the soul, this ! style made him an innovator and a successful book seller. Neve! rtheless he hated this pose, but remained strong defendant of his work. The Catcher had various extentions, written by another authors. Salinger always put them on a trial. He said there was the only one Holden Caulfield. Salinger also turned down all the proposals to adapt this novel. According to him, only one person could play Caulfield – it would be him.
