Čoraz viac však začínam veriť tomu, že ľudia z oboch strán rieky sú rovnakými väzňami tohto sveta, ktorý neustále naháňa prachy a senzácie. Existuje už nemalé množstvo príkladov toho, ako sa ľudia snažili vydolovať peniaze a slávu a akí zúfalí v tejto snahe boli. A dnes môžeme vidieť ďalší príklad. Názov, ktor&#! 253; projekt dostal ešte od svojho zakladateľa a autora by sa dnes mohol chápať viac ako ironicky. Film „This is it“ je to posledné čo nám po sebe zanechal zosnulý Michael Jackson. Viac ako 100 hodín záberov z pripravovanej koncertnej show robí z „This is it“ viac ako len koncertný či dokumentárny film. Je to v prvom rade príbeh. Príbeh o jednom z najväčších hudobníkov, ktorý kedy žil, no tiež príbeh o sile ľudského ducha, o talente no tiež ranách a bolesti. Čo je pre nás ešte vôbec dôležité a cenné? Za koľko sme schopní predať spomienku na zosnulého človeka? Je dnes naozaj všetko spočítateľné cez peniaze? JE TOTO skutočne ONO?

Sometimes I am asking myself: who is the bigger wretch – people from show biz or just ordinary people living out of it? Still more and more I believe that we both are some kind of prisoners of this “money & sensation” chasing world. There is plenty of examples how people tried to extract money or popularity and how much desperate they were to get it. Today we can see another model. And the name of it could be understood also as some kind of irony. Movie “This is it” is what deceased Michael Jackson left here. More than 100 hours of footage makes from “This is it” more than just a concert film and more than just a documentary. It say! s a story about the one of the biggest musicians ever lived, but also about the strength of human spirit, about talent and also about strikes and pain. King of Pop named it rightly, but who could ever think, that simple name of a show could point also on something else: insane show business. “This is it” should have been about Michael and his life work. But Sony which paid $60 million for the film rights just tremble to think how much money it will earn yet. Constant comparing with the biggest theater hits such as “The Blair Witch Project” or “Fahrenheit 9/11” makes me sick and evoke more serious questions. What is this world heading for? What is more important for us? For how much would we sell the memory of the deceased? Is everything countable only through money? IS THIS really IT?

Desi traim viata in viteza, avem inca nevoie de acuratete si organizatiile de stiri sunt inca vitale, deoarece ne pun la curent cu ceea ce se intampla in intreaga lume si in jurul nostru. Fie ca sunteti traiesc in SUA sau in Romania, credibilitatea stirilor a scazut drastic datorita faptului ca tot mai multe stiri inexacte sau chiar neadevarate sunt difuzate, fara a fi verificate si cu pretentia de a fi autentice. Sa aruncam o privire la f! arsele din acest an pe care retelele de televiziune din le-au difuzat: o explozie de meteorit, un copil intr-un balon zburand deasupra Colorado-ului, un atac terorist pe Raul Potomac. In aceste conditii nu e surprinzator ca mai mult de 63 la suta din americani nu au incredere in stiri. CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC se numara printre retelele de top din SUA, dar ele sunt, de asemenea, printre cele mai putin fiabile, deoarece ar sacrifica fara sa ezite precizia in favoarea vitezei, pentru ca totul se invarte in jurul intaietatii in transmiterea de stiri. Cu toate acestea, nu sunt de vina doar organizatiile de stiri, pentru ca exista unii oameni care dedica timp si bani in raspandirea de zvonuri false sau povestiri legate de diferite teme, in special in ceea ce priveste povesti despre celebritati precum politicieni, cantareti, actori. Stiri false sunt create pe Internet si raspandit prin intermediul internetului, o sursa periculoasa de informatii pe! ntru ca oricine poate publica orice fara sa-si asume vreo resp! onsabili tate. Although we live life in the fast lane, we still need accuracy and the news organizations are still vital as they put us up to date with what happens around the world and around us. Whether you are living in US or in Romania, the credibility of news has decreased severely as more and more inaccurate news stories or even untrue stories are broadcasted without being verified and with the pretence of being authentic. Just take a look at this year hoaxes that! US TV networks broadcasted: a meteorite explosion, a child in a balloon racing across the Colorado, a terrorist attack on the Potomac River. As it is, more than 63 percent of Americans don’t trust news stories. CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC are among the top US networks, but they are also among the most unreliable as they would without hesitation sacrifice accuracy in favour of speed, because everything revolves around which network will be the first to present the story. Nonetheless, the news organizations are not the solely to blame as people nowadays dedicate time and money in spreading false rumours or stories related to various subjects, especially stories concerning celebrities like politicians, singers, actors. The false news are created on the Internet and spread through the Internet, a dangerous source of information as anyone can publish anything without assuming any responsibility. In spite of complaining about the inaccuracy! of news stories, people are attracted by them and the fact th! at the a udience increases every time a hoax is broadcasted or spread through the written press like tabloids. Wake up US, it’s time to see who you elected! This year should have been the year of glory for President Barack Obama, yet he failed to rise up to everyone's expectations. In order to compensate his lack of power to accomplish at least some of his promises, he takes wrong decisions and accepts prizes that he doesn’t deserve. Would this phrase be taken up as a declaration of war by the White House? As there are voices rising against the Obama administration, the White House seems to be the favourite target for many attacks, especially coming from the media. However, it is not the media’s fault that they are incomp! etent and fail to meet expectations. Usually you expect lies, rumours, misleading information coming from the media, but this time what they are only pointing out the obvious about the president and his employees. Due to the fact that US is famous for the right to an opinion, you would expect the White House to accept the critics and try to make things right or to combat diplomatically the critics, yet the situation is completely different. Fox Channel News, one of the top-rated cable news networks, seems to be at war with the White House for daring to present opinions which were actually based on true facts like the health care demonstrations over the summer or the controversies surrounding former administration official Van Jones and the community activists ACORN. It is not only preposterous that the right to an opinion is being ignored, but it is also outrageous that an administration that should invest time and effort in getting the country out of ! the recession, still finds time to engage in arguments with th! e press. The country is burning and the old lady is brushing her hair. Mister President, what are you going to do? Until now, you did not manage to do anything outstanding, nor did you succeed in fulfilling your promises. The media brought you where you are today and turning against it, would only lead to your downfall. Good luck!

Nobelova nagrada za literatura za 2009 godina

Nobelovata nagrada za literatura beše visokoceneta na početokot na nejzinoto osnovanje, no so tek na vreme nejzinata nepristrasnost beše stavana pod lupa. Kriteriumite spored koi edna kniga e izbrana kako pobednik ne se poznati i vo povekjeto slučai se čini deka postoi politička vrska. Zgora na toa, povekjeto od pobednicite se Evropejci, dodeka Švegjanite lično gi dobivaa pogolemiot del od nagradite od sitge aziski državi. Marsel Prust, Dzejms Dzojs, Emil Zola, Mark Tven, Vladimir Nabokov, Horhe Luis Borhes, Dzon Apdajk se samo del od brilijantnite avtori što ne ja dobile nagradata, iako nivnite dela vlijaele na literaturat! a niz cel svet. Pa, kolku relevantni se členovite na komitetot za Nobelova nagrada? Nikoj ne može da kaže sigurno, no sigurno e deka eden od glavnite principi što gi bara natprevarot ne e ispolnet. Členovite na Komitetot ne treba da se natprevaruvaat ili bi bilo apsurdno da se natprevaruvaat i togaš vsušnost i da pobedat, što vo suština se sluči vo 1974 godina. Herta Miler ja dobi Nobelovata nagrada godinava so nejzinite dela za komunističkiot režim vo Romanija. Iako, na Romanija bi trebalo da í pretstavuva čest što nekoj roden i porasnat na nejzinoto tlo ja dobi ovaa pročuena nagrada, bolnata vistina se sostoi vo toa što postojat mnogu drugi pisateli, mnogu podobri od Miler, koi voopšto ne bea zemeni predvid. Plus toa, nagradata se dodeluva za periodot koj povekjeto Romanci ili se obiduvaat da go zaboravat ili sonuvaat da se vrati. Najverojatno faktot deka godinava proslavuvame 20-god! išnina otkako kolabiraše komunizmot, beše eden ! od krite riumite poradi koi Miler beše izbrana. Kakov sram za dobroto ime na Alfred Nobel koj sonuvaše za sovršenstvo, za ideal kon pravednosta i za opštestvo bazirano na zasluga. Kontroverzijata frla oblak duri nad avtori što pobedile i vo suština ja zaslužile nagradata. Sepak, sé što možeme da napravime e da ja prifatime odlukata što švedskiot komitet ja donese i da smetame deka posle sé, ništo ne se promenilo od komunistite navamu. Uživajte!

The Nobel Prize in Literature was highly regarded at the beginning, but in time its fairness started to be questioned. The criteria on which a book is elected as the winner are not known and most of the times it seems that there is a political connection. Furthermore, most of the winners are Europeans, while the Sweden themselves received the most prizes from all the other Asian countries. Marcel Proust, James Joyce, Emil Zola, Mark Twain, Vladimir Nabokov, Jorge Luis Borges, John Updike are just some of the brilliant authors who did not receive the prize, although their works influenced literature worldwide. So how reliable ! are the members of the Nobel Prize in Literature committee? No one can tell for sure, but it is certain that one of the main principles that a competition requires is not fulfilled. The members of the committee should not compete or it would be preposterous to compete and then actually win, which in fact happened in 1974. Herta Mueller won this year’s Nobel Prize with her works on the communist regime in Romania. Although, it should be an honour for Romania that someone born and bred on its soil won such an illustrious award, the painful truth is that there are many other writers, far better than Mueller who were not even taken into account. Besides, the prize is given again for a period that most Romanians are either trying to forget, either dream to come back. Most probably the fact that this year we celebrate the 20th anniversary since the communism collapsed was one of the criteria for which Mueller was chosen. Wh! at a disgrace on the good name of Alfred Nobel who aspired to ! perfecti on, to an ideal of fairness and to a merit-based society. The controversy throws a cloud even upon the other authors that won and actually deserved the prize. Yet, all we can do is to accept the decision that the Swedish committee took and consider that after all nothing changed since the communists. Enjoy!
