Batman- record breaker
by Claudia Sonea

Who is keeping the dark streets of Gotham City clear of villains? A single man who took the law into his own hands, dressed into a dark suit, equipped with extraordinary gadgets and a gorgeous automobile, called Batman. He is the hero everyone expected for, he will save the day and of course the damsel in distress.
Now back to reality, the comic book character Batman has just been transposed into a new movie. In fact it is the sequel of the movie launched by Christopher Nolan in 2005, Batman Begins. Just in the first night of its release, “The Dark Knight”, managed to overcome the 2005 performance of "Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith" with a record $18.5 million from 3,040 theaters. Moreover, other Hollywood's record books were marked down by the climb of $400 million at the box office in just 18 days, according to Jeff Goldstein, general sales manager for Warner.
If on Monday "The Dark Knight" No. 8 on the all-time box-office charts with $400.04 million domestically, on Tuesday it moved up to No. 7 passing the $403.7 million registered by "Spider-Man" and there are high expectations from Warner Bros to overcome the original "Star Wars" in about two weeks, thus becoming No. 2. "Titanic" is No. 1 with $600.8 million and will be hard if not impossibly to be topped out.
The special effects and Heath Ledger have made "The Dark Knight" irresistible. Bale interpreted Batman really good too, but he was no match for Joker (Ledger). On the whole the movie deserves to be viewed and trust me it will entertain you. This should be a nice way to remember Ledger who died in January due to an overdose. May God rest his soul!
