France bans broadcast of TV shows for babies by Radka Konkolova

Children are the biggest treasure for the most of the parents, so they want and try to bring their offspring up in the best way they can. Everyone certainly agree that it is always very hard work, but on the other hand, parents are then proud of their kids and can say they have done great work. So they of course must influence their children from their very childhood to choose the right way. I think it is necessary to start with this immediately after they are born, because it is very important for the further movement and development of the child.

But some parents are busy enough with their work so there can happen something like they have not enough time to spend it with their baby or child. And therefore, sometimes they must find a babysitter. But some people came with something “cataclysmal” which should allow parents to spend some time without their children and baby’s cry and without need of babysitter. In 2006 the new TV channels were introduced in United States. These channels are dedicated to the babies less than 3 years old. The programme of these TVs is really simple and it could help children to get asleep or something like that. But psychologists and other scientists, doctors and some parents as well are against these channels. It is because they claim children shouldn’t be influenced by TV at such age. They should be influenced by parents and other family members, because babies of that age need real words from real person and they also need someone who would teach them some basics needed for their future life.

So according to psychologists’ opinion these channels should be forbidden while they can pose a risk for such kids, because of slowing language acquisition, encouraging children’s passivity, troubles with sleep and concentration as well as dependence on screens. So the consequence is that the whole development of child and child’s mind can be slowed down or sometimes even completely stopped.

This was the main reason why France’s broadcast authority has banned French channels from airing TV shows aimed at children under 3 years old. In my opinion this is very good solution, because children need parents. Aright, it is not necessary that these persons must be parents, but those persons must be humans, who are solicitous, responsible and who will talk to them and teach them how to behave, think and someone who they can depend on. Babies don’t need some unshaped creatures yelling on them from the screen. And this approach in my opinion will help children to develop their personality in the best way. And it is almost sure there will be less passive and silly people in the world then…
