Elvis peacock jumpsuit sells for $300K
by Radka Konkolova

Although Elvis Presley, the “King of Rock’n’Roll” is dead for more than thirty years, he has got always plenty of stable and faithful fans. Some of them even claim he is not dead, he is still alive and he enjoys his life somewhere far from casual world and people because he was tired of much fame while he was on top for more than two decades and he wanted to enjoy silence and peace. They even believe he will come back some time.

Anyway, he has got so many fans and most of them are, how to say it smoothly, something like fanatics. The true is that many people collect his LPs and other things which were important for him and accompanied him during his career or life. The most specific things were his made-to-measure costumes. He wore them on his concerts and performances and they were very popular among people. They together with his hairstyle, voice and songs were a sign and part of Elvis. He was probably very charismatic person. And besides his albums people are used to collect other things and they are capable and willing to spend great amount of money to purchase some pieces.

The last Internet auction with Elvis’ favourite things took place in auctioneer Gotta Have It! last week and it ended at 3 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2008. The consequence of this auction is, that one person became the owner of Elvis’ favourite peacock jumpsuit and spent for it in my opinion huge amount of money. This man spent $300,000 for this outfit made by Los Angeles designer Bill Belew, who created all The King’s wardrobe. The new owner now possesses the white outfit with a plunging V-neck and high collar features a blue-and-gold peacock design hand embroidered in the front and back and along the pant legs. It is cinched at the waist by a wide belt decorated in gold medallions in a design resembling the eye of a peacock feather.

This was the most expensive piece from Elvis’ wardrobe which has ever been sold up. In previous auction there was relatively big interest but the latest auction approved that value of Elvis and his possession is very high but for some people not inaccessible…
