American Idol heading to Disneyworld?
by Zuzana Moravcova

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is planning to create a new attraction - live performances based on "American Idol" at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. "Our goal is to try to recreate the excitement of those 24 people who show up on that 'American Idol' stage. We believe many, many viewers want to know exactly how that feels, and we're going to try to reproduce that feeling for them," said Disney Parks chairman Jay Rasulo to The Associated Press. The attraction has yet not been named, and its details are still being worked out. The whole project is supposed to start by the end of 2008. Theme park guests aged 14 and up will be allowed to audition for a Disney casting producer, who will then select the most talented or entertaining contestants to appear in one of the park's "Idol" stage shows. About six to eight shows are expected every day. The Hollywood Studios provided their theater space for the live performers. Those, who receive the most audience votes, will compete in a grand finale show at the end of each day. Daily champions will win a special front-of-the-line pass for "American Idol" at a regional audition. Instead of famous American Idol judges - Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell & it is likely that three audience members will be selected to evaluate the performers in front of a live audience. A live host will keep the Idol-like show moving. Backstage, the performers will receive singing tips from a vocal coach, and hair and makeup treatment from a stylist. Disney winners will not be given any special treatment during the real audition, just the ability to skip ahead.
