by Claudia Sonea

London Fashion Week, organised by the British Fashion Council headquartered at the Natural History Museum, South Kensington featuring catwalks designer collections and plays host to 49 catwalk shows for Britain's favourite designers such as Julian MacDonald, Gareth Pugh, Amanda Wakely and Betty Jackson. The British capital city is unrivalled in its ability for developing new design talent through its New Generation Scheme, one of the hallmarks of London Fashion Week. Designers who have emerged over the past seasons include Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh, Richard Nicoll and Roskanda Illincic. This year designers announced a warm Monday by exposing on the catwalk models draped in silk and muslin colors. A variety of short skirts, shorts and dresses from the 2008 spring-summer collections of Jasper Conran and Marios Schwab, Best New Designer at the British Fashion Awards were all for the spectators eyes. Moreover, BassoBrooke took a high-tech approach. British sensation Luella Bartley, popular among celebrities like Kate Moss, had a mixture of punk and classical, passed before the opening through the capital city and opened her first fashion boutique. Starting from Saturday and until Thursday the event will present about 50 shows in its official programme. Besides Paris and Milan this British capital starts to give birth to new trends and John Galliano, Vivien Westwood and Matthew Williamson, the designers that usually are making history. Don't wait for others to tell you what to wear, watch the sublime marathon of beauty. Enjoy!
