Rap sensation Lil' Maaz went from serving kebab to instant fame by Corina Ciubotaru

It all started as a laugh, as the rapper would immediately start singing once customers made their order. One day he was overheard by some people working at a recording studio, which made a video with him and a couple of friends in the restaurant and posted it on the Internet. YouTube worked its magic and over 400,000 people viewed the rising star over the past month, in a video named after the song, "Mange du kebab". More recently, the EMI record label signed him up and has released the single in stores this week. The song is very funny, as both the singer and the record label intended it to be and illustrates perfectly the kind of influence the Internet is beginning to have on people's everyday lives. Not only is it a source of information, it has also become the place for people to express themselves and become popular with others. Blogs and other instruments of Web 2.0 bring us together and let us know each other in new and exciting ways. For the 27-year old Yilmaz Karaman, success came from the most unexpected place, and it's only up to him to rise to infinite glory or dedicate his life to serving fresh kebab to customers.
