by Lenka Filipova
Charles Dickens inert works are going to be sold. The works include the very valuable page of the original handwriting of "Pickwick Papers" as well as the illustration of the well-known Bill Sikes, who is the famous character from the "Oliver Twist". The collection is the property of the family of William E. Self, who used to collect English and American literature and films. The auction is prepared by the Kenyon Starling Library of Charles Dickens. It is planned on April 2nd. The Library is expected to heap approximately $2 million or more. The most fetching issues on the block include "The Uncommercial Traveller" (1861), which was written by Dickens in order to show his dedication to a novelist George Eliot. The work's auction price is in the range of $100,000 to $150,000 in the meantime. As already mentioned the page from the Dickens first novel "Pickwick Papers" is going to be on the sale too. The original contains the comedic part of the discussion between Pickwick's valet, Sam Weller, and a gentleman, John Smauker. This is predicted that the pre-sale price could reach form $150,00 up to $250,000.Within the collection the illustrations by Hablot K. Browne and George Cruikshank will be also found. The Browne's master drawing from "Pickwick" is the unique one as it is the first ever illustration that is going to be sold at the auction. Its price is expected from $15,000 to $20,000. An original sketch of Cruikshank of Spikes is meant to bring at least $12,000 up to $18,000.At the auction you can also find the Dickens newspapers "The Daily News NO. 1" which he edited in 1846.
