Chris Cantell Discusses - Art Live: The expensive art
If people do have so much money that they even do not know what to do with it, they usually spend it for buying really valuable works of art or realties. The value of these items is never falling down, contrary, the price is accumulated eventually more and more. There are number of stories about the artists who were so poor in the times they lived, that they were hardly able to buy paints and brushes to do their job. These days are their paintings sold for millions. This was also a case of Vincent van Gogh, whose five paintings are in list of 25 most expensive paintworks ever. Another "expensive" painter is Pablo Picasso with nine pieces in the mentioned top paintings list. The world' s most famous paintings are even priceless and are not available for sale, as they are in ownership of biggest museums all around the world. The most expensive painting today is called NO.5 by Jacskon Pollock. The largest number of most exclusive paintings have been sold for years by prestigious auction houses as Christie' s or Sotheby's. Now is the situation with the artists different. If there is a demand for their work, their incomes from the painting sale are adequate to their work value. New records were set at Sotheby' s Hong Kong for the The 18 Arhats painting by Liu Xiaodong. Lot of art collectors are nowadays interested in contemporary Chinese art and they fight for gaining their favourite paintings. And the regular people just hope to see live these master pieces just once in their life.
