Music helped one little guy to live
by Nina Gotzmannova

People tend to feel sorry for their disabled fellows. But sometimes the ones who can't see or hear lead more fulfilled and happier life that their healthy friends. The disability doesn't necessary mean life in boredom or loneliness. An extraordinary example is a small boy named Rex.Rex Lewis-Clark was born with a cyst in his brain and when he was only four months old, the doctors found he was blind. His brain damage was really serious and the doctors predict him a future without walking, talking, and barely living. Soon he has developed autistic-like syndromes and avoids touching anything. His hands were hypersensitive. But he and his parents didn't give up.For his second birthday Rex received a keyboard. And everything has changed. It was the first time he wanted to touch something. As he heard the music, he was fascinated and fell in love with the piano. Soon he began playing every day. At age 5 he starts working with a teacher and now, at age 8, he has a talent only one in 10.000 people have. Although he is disabled and blind, he can play every single song he hear or determine every single tone someone plays. Rex is considered a musical genius. He can't see the piano keys or even read music, but he can play absolutely every song right after hearing it. His love in music helped him in other aspects in his life. He learned to talk, walk and even run. The music has changed his life in a way no one expected. But Rex is not the only one with this unbelievable talent, there are more similar savants in the world. Tony DeBlois, a blind and autistic boy, learned to play more than 20 instruments, knows more than 8.000 songs and actually graduated from Berklee College of Music. He also has his own band. Both of the guys lead a life anyone can be proud of.
